Textile Archive, sourced in Jaipur, India.

Christina Forrer, born in 1978 in Zurich, is a contemporary artist known for her vivid and chaotic visual storytelling through tapestries, paintings, and works on paper.  Her practice delves into the tensions and dynamics between people, animals, and the natural world, often evoking narratives that are both whimsical and unsettling.  Using bold, eclectic color palettes, blending handmade textures with absurd, Forrer uses surreal figuration to explore the raw nature of human interaction.  Drawing from a wide range of influences—including fairy tales, children’s books, European folklore, Hollywood animation, and 20th-century painting and design—the artist creates richly layered visual worlds that feel both familiar and entirely her own.
