This particular strip is along the Rideau River in the heart of Ottawa, our nation's capital. While walking our dog, I would often see a red fox on the other side taking the easier travelling route along the shore's edge on the frozen ice. This piece was done to bring our attention to the little strips of wilderness within our cities and their importance to wildlife. This particular strip is along the Rideau River in the heart of Ottawa, our nation's capital.
While walking our dog, I would often see a red fox on the other side taking the easier travelling route along the shore's edge on the frozen ice. I took some artist liberty and removed the four lane throughway as well as one of Ottawa's hospitals which would normally be seen behind the tree line.
"The Strip" was done in graphite and acrylic paint. The brush or tree line in the background was actually done with loose graphite and brush. This technique was also used on my "Anticipation" piece.
The original of "The Strip" was sold to a client in Manhattan, NY.
