Installation Guide

1. Disconnect the battery and remove the engine cover.
2. Drain the lower unit gear oil completely.
3. Unbolt and carefully lower the gearcase from the drive shaft housing. Disconnect the shift shaft if necessary.
4. Place the gearcase on a workbench and remove the bolts securing the water pump housing.
5. Lift off the old pump housing, and carefully remove the impeller, cup, and wear plate, noting their orientation.
6. Remove the old impeller key, gaskets, and seals. Thoroughly clean all mating surfaces of debris and corrosion.
7. Install the new wear plate and gasket onto the gearcase.
8. Slide the new impeller key onto the driveshaft. Install the new impeller by pushing down while turning the driveshaft clockwise to seat the fins correctly inside the new pump cup.
9. Place the new O-rings and pump housing over the assembly, then tighten the bolts to the manufacturer's specified torque.
10. Carefully reinstall the lower unit, ensuring the driveshaft, water tube, and shift shaft are correctly aligned and seated.
11. Refill the gearcase with the correct type and amount of fresh gear oil.
12. Before launching, connect a water supply (flushing muffs) to the lower unit. Start the engine and confirm that a steady stream of water is exiting the tell-tale port.
