In this 90-minute workshop, you'll get the chance to try your hand at wheel-throwing. No clay experience necessary! Come and enjoy a creative, messy evening with your friends, siblings, parents, or significant other. If you’re over 21, feel free to BYOB!
Important Information:
- Included: instruction, 2 balls of clay, tools, firings, 1 Polaroid photo per couple
- Who: Anyone aged 10 and older (children under 16 must be accompanied by a parent enrolled in the class)
- When: Saturday, July 4 | 6pm-7:30pm
- Where: Bookworm Pottery & Co. - 707 S 16th St, Wilmington, NC 28401 **THE CARGO DISTRICT LOCATION** There is paid parking next to DesignWorx and free street parking on Queen Street & 17th Street. We are in the green unit through the double doors down the hall.
- Cost: $140 per couple (you each get your own wheel to practice on)
More Important Information:
- CLASS TYPE: This is a pottery wheel class. You will not be sculpting or painting. Staff will trim your pottery after the session for you.
- GLAZING: Your practice piece(s) will be glazed with ONE glaze that is intuitively selected by the staff of the studio. It’ll be a fun surprise!
- CARE: Ceramics should not be exposed to extreme temperature changes. Hand-wash or allow to cool to room temperature from the top rack of your dishwasher help prevent shattering. Avoid using boiling water. With care, your future little pots can bring you joy for a long while.
- TURNAROUND TIME: Pottery is a process and takes time to dry, glaze, and fire multiple times. Your creations will be ready for pickup from the studio approximately 6 weeks from the class date. You should receive a pickup email when they're finished, but if it is eaten by filters, please come by the studio after 6 weeks to check on your pots or send us an email. Any pottery left at the studio 3 months after the workshop date will be donated, so please pick up your work in time!
- DISCLAIMER: Not all practice pieces are guaranteed to make it out of the kiln if instructions are not followed. Inconsistencies in thickness can cause cracks or even shattering in the firing process. However, the goal of this workshop is to learn and have fun, not the finished practice pieces, so don’t stress about it! By purchasing this ticket, you are agreeing that Bookworm Pottery & Co. is not held liable for damaged pieces and reserves the right to substitute damaged pottery for a pre-made demo pot when available.
- WAIVER: Engaging in throwing classes can be taxing on the body. It is not recommended for individuals who have injuries in their hip, back, shoulders, or wrists; arthritis, tendonitis, carpal tunnel, or joint pain. By participating in pottery classes with Bookworm Pottery & Co., you understand and accept that you are throwing at your own risk, participation can exacerbate current/prior injuries, and release Bookworm Pottery & Co. from any liability during use of the studio. If you need special accommodations during class, please inform an instructor and we will make accommodations to the best of our ability, but cannot guarantee that we can perfectly accommodate every need. - REFUND POLICY: Tickets cannot be refunded, prorated or exchanged for another workshop due to the special nature of our offerings and very limited enrollment. There are no exceptions. If something comes up that impacts your attendance, you are welcome to resell your tickets.

Excellent Summer Resource for Kids!

I purchased the "Summer Bridge Activities 2nd to 3rd Grade Workbook" for my 8-year-old, and it has exceeded my expectations in every way. This comprehensive workbook is a fantastic tool to keep children engaged and learning during the summer break. My sibling is an elementary school teacher and introduced me to these books when my son was in Kindergarten and I honestly have not looked back. My LO loved a good challenge so we typically do multiple days to ensure we finish it in its entirety during the summer. I'm constantly recommending these books every summer as I have not yet found anything to replace it.

Good quality for price
Format: Paperback
This was a good book for the summer. It has a variety of activities so my child didn't get bored. It also has some fun "outside" only ideas to get them up and moving. It was a good bridge book that she could (mostly) do independently. However, as they progress through it, parents should be there to help and reiterate different concepts. It was well worth the price and helped the transition go smoothly.
