The BENU Talisman collection seeks to immerse us in the realm of folklore, myth and legend and share with us elements and tokens that are believed to bring us positive things such as love, luck, protection or money.

Historically known as Sanguis Draconis, Dragon’s Blood has been used for centuries in alchemy and magic rituals, sourced from small islands where dragons were believed to dwell. However contrary to what you would think, Dragon’s Blood doesn’t actually come from these mystical creatures but from a mysterious species of trees, the most famous being named Dracaena Draco or the Dragon Tree.

But where did this name come from? Damage to the skin of a dragon tree of any age will cause it to ‘bleed’ sap and in this case it is a bright red sap akin to the colour of blood. Once this sap is exposed to air it dries rock hard like frankincense or copal would.

In order to really capture the essence of this talisman, BENU have created a stunning pen which has a black base adorned with heaps of green and red glitter that contrast beautifully for a truly stand out pen.
