Cats spend the majority of their day sleeping. The bed they choose is usually the warmest available spot — but in warmer months, that warmth becomes the problem. The PawRest™ puts your cat up off the floor in open breathable mesh, where air moves underneath them as they sleep.
The PawRest™ elevated cat hammock bed sits 24 cm off the floor on a powder-coated arched steel frame. The hammock itself is an open-weave breathable mesh — air circulates beneath your cat as they lie, which makes a genuine difference in warm weather or in homes that run warm. The mesh bowl shape cradles cats naturally as they curl or sprawl, without the enclosed walls of a cave bed.
The frame assembles in six steps: mesh cloth onto the frame bars, round pipe splicing, overall frame connection, hammock attached to the basic support, velcro tape secured on both sides of the mesh cloth. A standard Phillips-head screwdriver is required — one is not included. Once assembled, the frame is stable and does not need to be taken apart between uses.
Available in three colours: cool mid-grey, warm coffee brown, and black. All variants use the same arched black powder-coated steel frame. The mesh colour is what changes.

Worth knowing before you order
This is an open hammock bed — there are no walls or hood. If your cat prefers an enclosed, covered sleeping space, see PawHaven™ (igloo cave bed). Assembly requires a Phillips-head screwdriver, which is not included in the box. The mesh hammock attaches to the frame with velcro tape on both sides — it is secure but can be removed for cleaning. This bed is designed for indoor use; the powder-coated frame is not weather-rated for outdoor exposure.
Questions
Why would a cat use an elevated hammock instead of a floor bed?
Cats instinctively prefer elevated positions — height gives them a vantage point and a sense of safety. An elevated bed also keeps them off cold or draughty floors in winter, and away from warm floors in summer. The open mesh underneath means air moves around them as they sleep, which most cats prefer in warmer weather over a solid-base or cushioned floor bed that traps heat. Not every cat will use it immediately — some take a few days to accept a new sleeping spot.
How difficult is the assembly?
Six steps in total: thread the mesh cloth onto the frame bars, splice the upper round pipe sections together, install the overall frame, connect the mesh hammock to the basic support construction, paste the velcro tape to both sides of the mesh cloth, and it is complete. A Phillips-head screwdriver is required and is not included in the box. Most people complete assembly in 15–20 minutes. The instructions are visual (six illustrated steps) — no written manual needed.
Can I wash the mesh hammock?
The mesh attaches via velcro and can be removed from the frame without disassembling the whole structure. Washability has not been confirmed with the supplier — do not machine wash until you have checked. Spot cleaning with a damp cloth is safe on mesh. We will update this answer once washability is confirmed.
Will it work for my dog as well as my cat?
This bed is sized and built for cats and small dogs. The 43 cm sleeping surface comfortably fits a curled cat or a small dog up to roughly terrier size. We are awaiting a confirmed weight rating from the supplier — until that is confirmed we cannot give a precise weight limit. If you have a medium or large dog, this bed is not appropriate — the frame is not rated for that weight.
Is this suitable for outdoors?
Designed for indoor use. The powder-coated steel frame is not rated for exposure to rain or sustained damp — it will rust over time if left outside. A sheltered patio or conservatory is fine for occasional use in dry weather. Do not leave it outdoors overnight or in wet conditions.
