COURSE OVERVIEW:

Welcome to the Enhancing Workplace Conversation Skills course. This program will equip you with the knowledge and capabilities required to understand what a conversation is, why conversation skills are essential in workplace dynamics, and what communication means in both theory and practice. You will explore the transmission model, the Shannon–Weaver transmission model of communication, the problems associated with linear models, how understanding actually occurs, the principles of parallel processing, and the characteristics of a new model of communication that reflects real-world interaction.

This course begins by examining the three levels of understanding and the big issue of small talk, including why informal discussions are important for relationship-building. This section explains the importance of building rapport, what to avoid so that others do not feel excluded or interrogated, and why learning the art of conversation strengthens clarity and trust. You will explore how to display the shape of your thinking, how to influence with your ideas, how conversation forms the heart of communication, and how conversations function across different workplace contexts.

Another area of learning focuses on the structure and mechanics of conversations. You will examine how conversations work, the repeated question of what a conversation truly is, and how to balance advocacy and enquiry to create productive dialogue. This section explains why conversations go wrong, how to put conversations into context, and how to work out the relationship operating between individuals. You will explore how relationships function along multiple dimensions and how Meredith Belbin’s team roles can influence conversational dynamics and communication outcomes.

A further area of learning explores how conversations can be structured more effectively for clarity and purpose. You will examine how an effective conversation manages structure, why conversations can go wrong, and identifiable ways to improve your conversations. This section explains how to clarify your objective before speaking, how to structure your thinking, and how to apply the WASP model of conversation in complex workplace interactions. You will also explore the four types of conversations commonly encountered at work and how each requires its own communication approach.

The next area of learning examines how to manage time within conversations. You will explore why conversations can go too fast or too slow, how to slow down or speed up a conversation, and how finding common ground shifts conversations from conflict to cooperation. This section explains how to move beyond argument, how the ladder of inference influences interpretations and reactions, and why summarising often helps maintain clarity. You will also explore the value of using visuals and how metaphors can improve understanding and engagement during workplace conversations.

By the end of this course you will be able to understand communication models and their limitations, apply modern conversation principles, build rapport effectively, balance advocacy and enquiry, diagnose conversation breakdowns, interpret relationship dynamics, recognise the influence of team roles, structure conversations for clarity, manage pacing and timing, establish common ground, use tools such as the WASP model and ladder of inference, summarise confidently, and enhance workplace communication through purposeful use of visuals, metaphors, and advanced conversation techniques.

Great look and very powerful - consider what your wanting to froth/mix - may be too powerful
Color: Lux White, Size: Rechargeable Z1 Motor Max
It's a great frother - but more for large drinks. Very powerful, even on the low speed. I returned it because I want something to mix my collagen and creamer in my coffee. The first time I turned it on it shot half the coffee out of the cup - very powerful. It has a great look, sleek and fits easy in the hand - but for what I needed, two powerful. It would have been nice to have a fully adjustable speed wand like my replaceable battery powered frother.

Powerful, rechargeable battery, easy to use & clean
Color: Lux Absolute Silver, Size: Rechargeable Z1 Motor Max
2 speeds, easy to change back and forth to different speeds with one click , easily blends 1/4 cup protein powder in 12 oz milk on low speed. Easy to clean: Stick blending wand in tall glass with warm water + dish soap, turn on low speed to clean easily (don’t stick the part that holds the battery in glass). Also of note, chosen by Americas Test Kitchen as best milk frother but I use it to make protein shakes.

Works great on bullet coffee!!
Color: Lux Alpha Black, Size: Rechargeable Z1 Motor Max
I am really pleased with this frother! Frothers I have used in the past didn’t mix my decaf coffee, 2% milk, and MCT oil as thoroughly as I like (oil and coffee separated). This frother blends everything AND I get a nice layer of frothy milk on top!!! Charge lasts a long and the froth can be submerged all the way up to the button!!!

Great upgrade compared to others
Color: Rechargeable with Storage Stand and Box - Black
This frother is far superior to other hand held versions we’ve owned. The attachments are much sturdier and don’t bend as easily (which made the others we’ve purchased quite useless). Rechargeable battery seems to last longer and provides plenty of power even on the lowest setting. The little wisk easily whips up eggs for a morning omelette and frothing cream and mixing powder into drinks are super easy with the other attachments. Finally, the stand is actually sturdy and balanced enough that it doesn’t easily tip over.

Three froth/blend options, rechargeable, comes with container
Color: Rechargeable with Storage Box - Silver, Color: Rechargeable with Storage Box - Silver
I watch a gentleman online who always talks about how in his 40 years he didn’t know x, y, z, and ends with “ain’t no way.” He made this 3-ingredient — 4 with ice— iced coffee, and used a handheld frother, so after shopping for ingredients, I went in search of a frother. What I liked about this one is that it’s not battery operated, but instead is rechargeable. It comes with three attachment, one of which I can use for cake batter, whipping up eggs, making homemade whipped cream, and also sauces and gravy. It also has a case so I am storing it with my coffee paraphernalia. It has three settings and I used the high setting. As you can see it really froths up the ingredients. I’m very pleased with my purchase and thought about all the times I need a slurry of water and cornstarch to thicken soups and stews. I don’t know the charge life yet, but so far, so good. What you see in the cup is 2 tablespoons of sweetened condensed milk, 3 teaspoons of instant espresso, and 2 ounces of water. Then you add the ice and your creamer, half-and-half, or barista lover’s oat milk, and you’re done. Not too bad, as my grandpa used to say.
