Golden rutile quartz, a natural crystal featuring smoky quartz with golden rutile inclusions, presented as two faceted freeform pieces from Madagascar. The golden rutile threads—often referred to as Angel’s Hair, Venus Hair, or Cupid’s Darts—lend a delicate, lace-like appearance within the stone.
Formation & Characteristics
Quartz forms around rutile crystals, creating slender golden needles embedded within the smoky quartz matrix. The color is the result of natural irradiation of the quartz and trace elements, producing a translucent to smoky appearance. The pieces exhibit natural cavities on the outer surface and are presented as two separate freeform fragments, measuring 4.3 cm high by 3.5 cm wide (39 g) and 6.6 cm high by 4.7 cm wide (88 g).
