FRENCH GOTHIC REVIVAL HIGHLY CARVED OAK CREDENCE CUPBOARD / CABINET, 19thc 1800sAn impressive French Gothic Revival credence cupboard, richly carved in solid oak, dating to the late 19th century (circa 1880–1900). This architectural cabinet features dramatic vertical proportions, deep relief carving, and a strongly ecclesiastical presence typical of high-quality Gothic Revival furniture produced in France during this period.
The upper section is crowned with an elaborate tracery cresting composed of pierced finials and cusped Gothic motifs, creating a striking silhouette reminiscent of medieval church furnishings. Below, the cupboard displays arched panel carving, shield and foliate motifs, and a deeply recessed figural niche housing a carved robed figure, likely a saint or ecclesiastical figure, reinforcing the devotional character of the piece.
The lower section is supported by paneled uprights and stands on turned bun feet, grounding the tall form while maintaining visual lightness.
Historic Context
The Gothic Revival movement flourished in France throughout the 19th century, inspired by renewed interest in medieval architecture, craftsmanship, and religious art. Furniture of this type was often commissioned for church interiors, private chapels, clergy residences, or wealthy homes seeking a romanticized medieval aesthetic.

Beautiful Reproduction of Original Comics

This third volume is just as beautifully done as the first two. High quality reproductions of stories from the remaining issues. With all three volumes you have entire run of Treehouse of Horror that look better than the comics themselves. Volume Three includes a gallery of cover art from the complete run. Highly recommended. Buy all three.
