The camera’s shutter fires correctly, film advance and control dials operate smoothly, and the light meter functions as intended. The camera body shows normal signs of use consistent with age while remaining mechanically reliable.
The paired MC Rokkor-PF 55mm f/1.7 lens is in excellent condition, having been cleaned and inspected by CPB Darkroom. The optics are clear with no significant optical defects observed, and both the focus and aperture rings operate smoothly and accurately. Cosmetically, the lens remains exceptionally well preserved with minimal signs of use.
Introduced in the mid-1970s, the Minolta XE is renowned for its smooth shutter mechanism and robust construction, developed through Minolta’s collaboration with Leica. Offering both aperture-priority automatic exposure and full manual control, it remains one of Minolta’s most refined film SLRs. Paired with the classic MC Rokkor-PF 55mm f/1.7, this combination delivers sharp rendering, rich contrast, pleasing colour reproduction, and excellent low-light performance. The slightly longer-than-standard 55mm focal length provides a natural perspective well suited for portraits, street photography, documentary work, and everyday shooting.
This camera uses standard 35mm (135) film, producing images in the 24 × 36 mm format.
