The Adcom GFA-6002 is a high-current two-channel power amplifier engineered for clean, dynamic power delivery and stable speaker control across a wide range of loads. Delivering 70 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 100 watts per channel into 4 ohms, with a damping factor greater than 400 and an ultra-wide power bandwidth of 5Hz to 130kHz, it offers the grip and precision that reveals the full potential of any loudspeaker system. Available at Vinyl Sound in Toronto, Canada.

Toroidal Transformer Design and Precision Engineering

The GFA-6002 is part of Adcom's GFA-600x series, built around a toroidal transformer design chosen for exceptional efficiency, minimal excess noise, and low leakage inductance compared to conventional EI-core transformer designs. Dual pairs of output transistors per channel, FR4 fiberglass circuit boards, and ultra-efficient heat sinks complete an engineering package that prioritizes reliability and consistent performance under sustained high-current demand. Lower total harmonic distortion across the operating range ensures a clean, pure signal path with a supremely quiet noise floor.

Performance and Speaker Control

The GFA-6002 is capable of driving a wide variety of loudspeakers with confidence and control. Its high-current output stage maintains composure and detail during demanding passages, with bass that is tight and controlled, a midrange that remains open and natural, and high frequencies that extend smoothly without losing definition. The damping factor of greater than 400 ensures precise woofer cone control for accurate, well-defined bass across all speaker types.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Adcom GFA-6002?

The Adcom GFA-6002 is a two-channel stereo power amplifier rated at 70 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 100 watts per channel into 4 ohms, bridgeable to 175 watts mono into 8 ohms. It uses a toroidal transformer, dual pairs of output transistors per channel, and FR4 fiberglass circuit boards, and achieves a damping factor greater than 400 with an ultra-wide power bandwidth of 5Hz to 130kHz. It is available at Vinyl Sound in Toronto, Canada.

What is the power output of the GFA-6002?

The GFA-6002 delivers 70 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 100 watts per channel into 4 ohms in stereo mode. In bridged mono mode it delivers 175 watts into 8 ohms, providing additional headroom for single-channel applications such as a passive subwoofer or a dedicated center channel in a high-performance home theater system.

Can the GFA-6002 be bridged to mono?

Yes. The GFA-6002 can be bridged to deliver 175 watts mono into 8 ohms. This is useful when driving a single high-power loudspeaker, a passive subwoofer, or any application where the full output of both channels is required in a single output. A minimum speaker impedance of 8 ohms is recommended when operating in bridged mono mode.

What is the toroidal transformer and why does Adcom use it in the GFA-6002?

The toroidal transformer in the GFA-6002 is a ring-shaped transformer geometry chosen for its high efficiency, minimal electromagnetic leakage inductance, and low radiated noise compared to conventional EI-core transformer designs. These characteristics reduce interference with the sensitive audio signal circuits in the amplifier, resulting in a quieter noise floor and more stable voltage regulation under varying power demands.

What speaker loads can the GFA-6002 drive?

The GFA-6002 is designed to drive a wide variety of loudspeakers in stereo mode, including 4-ohm designs, with its rated output of 100 watts per channel. Its damping factor greater than 400 ensures precise control of loudspeaker cone movement, particularly important for accurate bass reproduction with ported and bass-reflex speaker enclosures. The variable input sensitivity allows the GFA-6002 to be matched to a wide range of preamplifiers and source components.

How does the GFA-6002 fit into the Adcom amplifier lineup?

The GFA-6002 is Adcom's entry-level two-channel power amplifier in the GFA-600x series, positioned below the higher-powered GFA-565se, GFA-575se, and GFA-585se models. It shares the same core design philosophy of high-current output, low distortion, and reliable build quality, while offering a more compact footprint and lower power output suited to smaller rooms and moderately sensitive loudspeakers. For systems requiring more output power or the ability to drive very low impedance loads, the GFA-565se and above offer higher specifications.

Where can I buy the Adcom GFA-6002 in Canada?

Looks good but but takes work to put it together.
Parts do not fit together well. Had to take a knife to trim top to make it fit. Plastic nuts and bolts. Light works well and stays lit for hours.

Looks Fantastic
Size: 1 Pack
Very easy to install, and looks very nice. It’s made from a durable composite material, not metal, but it’s built well. No one would know that it isn’t metal. On the pricier side for solar lamps, but you’re buying a quality product.

Good product for the price!
Size: 1 Pack, Size: 1 Pack
This light is not bad for being a solar powered product. I have it in the area that receives most of the days sunlight as this area gets full sun (that side of the house gets blasted). The light is on for about 6-7 hours. I am thinking of buying another one. Just note that the housing is plastic.... not super high quality, but it gets the job done for the price point.

More expensive and worth it
Color: Bright White Accent Light
Walk away from those 6 for $49. solar lights and buy some of these. They will cost more in the short run but will save you money in the long run. They are very well made of sturdy aluminum from the light head down to the stake. They have glass crystalline lenses. They look good on the path-modern and somewhat understated. These come in 2 varieties-a 40 lumen and a 60 lumen. I strongly recommend the 60 lumen variety. Aside from being brighter, they have a better solar cell and battery. My lights are still on at 6AM after a prior sunny day which is a new experience for me. They also have external, easily accessible on/off and light color (amber vs bright white) toggle switches. I find this feature unique and a game changer. GamaSonic has really listened to customers and created a noticeably better solar light that checks all of the boxes. I strongly endorse this solar light.

Looks nice but unreliable quality
I was so excited about these lights when they were delivered. Looked well made and illuminated brilliantly. Although, out of the four that I ordered, the first one stoped lighting up the orange light and never lite again after only a months use. The second one stopped illuminating the orange light followed by both lights not illuminating at all after a month in a half of use.
