Lotus Planting Instructions

Plant your lotus in a wide (18-30 inch or wider), shallow container using heavy loam soil. Dig a trench across the top of the soil and gently place your lotus tuber in the trench. Cover all but the growth tips in an inch or two of soil, leaving the growth tips exposed. Add a couple of inches of water over the soil and place in a sunny location outdoors (8+ hours of sunlight daily). In a week or so, you will have coin leaves on the surface of the water. DO NOT fertilize until you have aerial leaves growing out of the water.

Lotus Fertilizing Instructions

Once you have aerial leaves, you may fertilize during the growing/blooming months (June through September) with four fertilizer tabs each month. We recommend Waterlily World Fertilizer Tabs + Humates for optimum growth and best bloom!
