Elleste Duet Description
Elleste Duet is a type of sequential HRT tablet that includes two hormones.
It's used to treat menopause symptoms like hot flushes and low mood.
The tablets come in both low and medium doses.

What is Elleste Duet?

Elleste Duet is a form of sequential (or cyclical) HRT usually suggested for women who are having menopausal symptoms but still have their periods. It includes synthetic versions of oestrogen and progesterone.

Oestrogen helps manage hot flushes, night sweats, and other menopausal symptoms, while progesterone lowers the risk of womb (or endometrial) cancer. Additionally, oestrogen can help protect against osteoporosis, which some women may experience after menopause.

How does Elleste Duet work?

During menopause, the ovaries produce less oestrogen, which leads to certain symptoms. These can include difficulty sleeping, a reduced sex drive, hot flushes, vaginal dryness and discomfort during sex, low mood and anxiety, and night sweats.

The oestrogen in combined HRT helps make up for the body's natural drop in oestrogen levels and can alleviate these symptoms. It's known that oestrogens in HRT can lessen the frequency of menopausal symptoms by 75%.

If you haven't had a hysterectomy, the oestrogen in combined HRT can cause the lining of the womb to become thicker than usual, which might increase the risk of endometrial cancer. The progesterone in Elleste Duet helps prevent this thickening, significantly reducing the risk of cancer.

To wrap up today's science talk: during menopause, the drop in oestrogen levels increases the risk of bones becoming weak or breaking. The oestrogen in combined HRT helps to counter this and can prevent osteoporosis.

Is Elleste Duet the right HRT for me?

If you're experiencing menopausal symptoms but still having periods, combined sequential HRT options such as Elleste Duet and Evorel Sequi patches are typically recommended.

As with all HRT, combined sequential options may cause side effects and might not be suitable if you're on certain medications or have specific health conditions. During your consultation, our clinician will determine the most appropriate treatments for you.

If you've gone through menopause, continuous combined HRT options such as Indivina and Evorel Conti patches are often the most suitable choice. You're generally considered 'postmenopausal' if you haven't had a period for a year. With continuous combined HRT, you take it daily without any breaks.

Oestrogen-only treatments like Elleste Solo and Estradot patches are recommended for women who have had a total hysterectomy, meaning their entire womb, including the cervix, has been removed.

Different HRT products can differ in the amount of hormones they contain, so how sensitive you are to hormone levels can be an important factor in choosing the right HRT for you.

What doses of Elleste Duet are available?

Elleste Duet comes in two strengths: a low dose with 1mg of estradiol and 1mg of norethisterone, and a medium dose with 2mg of estradiol and 1mg of norethisterone.

Initially, you'll typically be given the lowest hormonal dose for the shortest time to see how your body reacts. If you feel the dose is too low, it's important to talk to our clinician about possibly adjusting it.

Switching to Elleste Duet from another type of HRT

If you're changing to Elleste Duet from a different type of HRT, begin taking Elleste Duet after you've completed your current HRT. If our prescriber has provided guidance on how to switch to Elleste Duet, make sure to follow their advice. If you're unsure, have a chat with our clinician.

You’ll likely have a monthly bleed, though some women might not bleed at all. This bleed can begin anytime between day 21 of your pack and day five of the following pack. Typically, this cycle remains consistent each month.

You might experience some irregular bleeding in the first few months of use. However, if it continues beyond that, please message our clinician.

What should I do if I forget to take an Elleste Duet tablet?

If you forget to take a dose, take the tablet as soon as you remember, then continue with your next tablet at the usual time. However, if you're more than 12 hours late, safely dispose of the missed tablet and take the next one as you normally would.

If you miss a tablet, don't take two to catch up. You might experience some breakthrough bleeding or spotting.

How to stop taking Elleste Duet

Always consult with our clinician before stopping Elleste Duet. It's generally advised to taper off the medication gradually instead of stopping abruptly, as this reduces the likelihood of your menopausal symptoms returning quickly.

Is Kliofem the same as Elleste Duet?

Although both contain the same hormones, Kliofem is a continuous combined HRT tablet, while Elleste Duet is a combined sequential HRT tablet. This means you take them differently.

Kliofem is another HRT option suggested for women who are postmenopausal and haven't had a period for at least a year. On the other hand, Elleste Duet is intended for women going through menopause who are still having periods.

Can I delay my period on Elleste Duet?

It's generally not recommended, and it's crucial that you talk to our clinician about it first. Some women choose to delay their periods while using Elleste Duet by taking extra tablets instead of sticking to the usual 28-day cycle.

Taking too many tablets containing oestrogen can be harmful because increased oestrogen levels can cause the uterine lining to thicken too much. This raises your risk of womb cancer. Therefore, it's important to discuss delaying your period with our clinician beforehand.

Novofem and Elleste Duet: are they the same?

Novofem and Elleste Duet both have estradiol and norethisterone acetate, and they are both sequential combined HRT treatments. The pill schedule is identical for both. The only differences are the pill colours, the manufacturer, and the packaging. Novofem, like Kliofem, is produced by Novo Nordisk, not Mylan.

Novofem comes in just one dosage: 1mg of estradiol and 1mg of norethisterone. It doesn't have options for low or medium dose tablets.

Important Information

Elleste Duet isn't right for everyone, and there are a few things you should be mindful of when using it.

Here's all the official information about it. If anything isn't clear, please let our clinician know, and they can discuss it with you.

Don't buy AppleCare from Amazon, won't "attach" to your device automatically
Style Name: MacBook Pro 14" (M4), Configuration: 3 years
As another reviewer said, Amazon should not be allowed to sell digital items like these and fail to deliver them. That's called a scam. I have yet to receive my AppleCare agreement, but Amazon was more than glad to charge my Amex right away. Purchasing AppleCare from Amazon will only get you to a download of a PDF of the general terms and conditions, from your "Software Library", but it is not YOUR actual user agreement, and will not register on your device. Amazon will not help either, they will refer you to Apple support, and Apple will tell you that without an Agreement Number, they can't apply your AppleCare to your device. Since the PDF Amazon directs you to is a simple General Terms and Conditions document, there is no Agreement Number. In addition, the purchase invoice doesn't show this Agreement Number nor the device's Serial Number (which Amazon claims is recorded with the purchase... it's not) Save yourself the headache, and buy AppleCare direct from Apple, it will be about $60 more, but the "savings" is not worth dealing with this Amazon stuff. Amazon will also refuse to process a refund, stating that "only Apple can do that". Guess Amazon is telling you to contact your credit card and initiate a chargeback for services not received as paid.

Was skeptical but it worked out of the box
Style Name: MacBook Air 13" (M4), Configuration: 3 years, Style Name: MacBook Air 13" (M4), Configuration: 3 years
Was skeptical at first but decided to pull the plug and get the m4 laptop with 3 years of apple care and it works. Haven't even opened an email or anything, laptop was still fresh out of the box. When I remembered I bought apple care and decided to check. Applied instantly as far as I know once I linked my apple account on the first boot up with internet! Good stuff

DO NOT PURCHASE WITH YOUR MACBOOK OR OTHER APPLE DEVICES
Style Name: MacBook Air 13" (M4), Configuration: 3 years, Style Name: MacBook Air 13" (M4), Configuration: 3 years
I bought this along with my MacBook. And here is why you SHOULDN'T: 1. They NEVER sent me an AppleCare+ Agreement. You will only be able to download a General Terms & Conditions file. 2. I bought: AppleCare+ for 13-inch MacBook Air (M4) (3 years) and in the General Terms & Conditions that I downloaded, looking for my AppleCare+ Agreement #, it NEVER mentioned Macbook Air as a covered device. It was meant for other smaller devices, which is why it's cheaper. 3. Like I mentioned, since I never received an agreement, I never got an agreement #. 4. Since this AppleCare wasn't actually meant for a MacBook, it didn't connect automatically to my computer. So when I went to talk to Apple and Amazon, without an Agreement # you can do ANYTHING. If you purchase it, read through your General Terms and Conditions and find an excuse to ask for a FULL REFUND. Since this didn't cover my computer, I was thankfully able to get one, but it was a pain trying to talk to customer support and apple.

It worked! Apple Care was added to my device when I received it!
Style Name: MacBook Pro 14" (M4 Pro/M4 Max), Configuration: 3 years
I purchased an MacBook and AppleCare+ at the same time. A day/two after the purchase I received an email from Amazon that the AppleCare+ was in software and go to digital download. When I downloaded it was just the agreement. Then I started reading all the negative reviews on nightmare experience with Amazon and AppleCare+ not being added. I was very nervous and mentally prepare for the nightmare that lie ahead which having to call Amazon multiple times and then having to call Apple multiple times. To my surprise, right after Amazon delivered the MacBook (I got notification your item was delivered) I got another email from Amazon that AppleCare+ was added the laptop with agreement number and serial number of the laptop I received. I checked Apple's coverage site and sure enough Apple site showed AppleCare+ coverage tied the MacBook. I didn't even open the box or turn it on and see the AppleCare+ coverage. Hopefully this gives some insight to future buyers of AppleCare+ from Amazon!!!

DO NOT PURCHASE APPLECARE+ THROUGH AMAZON (Please read before making a decision)
Style Name: MacBook Air 13" (M4), Configuration: 3 years
I rarely write reviews like this, but DO NOT PURCHASE APPLECARE+ THROUGH AMAZON. Just over a month ago, I purchased an Apple MacBook Air (m4) with AppleCare+. The AppleCare+ wasn't populating on the laptop, so after calls with Apple Support and Apple Agreement Administration, they found that AMAZON sent them the approved agreement with the device serial number then abruptly canceled it the following day. This happened over a month ago, and I was not notified nor have I received a refund. I would not have known it was canceled if not for Apple Support and Apple Agreement Administration. The only recourse is to receive a refund from Amazon--which is NOT automatic, I am fighting for this--and purchase AppleCare+ directly through Apple. Had all this taken place after the 60-days purchasing the MacBook Air (I'm currently one week short of this deadline), then I would be SOL on being able to cover my device. PURCHASE AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION/RISK AND CHECK THAT APPLECARE+ IS APPROVED AND ACTIVE ON YOUR DEVICE. Otherwise, play it safe and activate directly through Apple.
