The Magic of Bizen Clay
Unlike porcelain, Bizen ware is completely unglazed. The cups are fired in wood-burning kilns for long periods (oxidation firing), allowing the natural ash and minerals in the clay to create one-of-a-kind markings.
Better Beer: The microscopic textures on the interior surface produce a dense, silky foam head when pouring beer.
Self-Cooling: The dense stoneware helps maintain the temperature of your beverage longer than standard glass.
Natural Variations: Because these are wood-fired, no two cups are identical. You will see beautiful "Hidasuki" (fire-cord) markings or "Goma" (sesame seed ash) patterns.

Care Instructions
Bizen ware is exceptionally strong but should be hand-washed. With regular use, the oils from your hands and the beverages will give the clay a soft, beautiful luster—a transformation cherished by Japanese collectors.
