Aunt Daisy's Tea Party is a masterpiece of deadpan domestic surrealism, a richly detailed, warmly observed and deeply funny surreal collage art print that takes the most wholesome social institution of the 1970s suburban calendar, the ladies' gathering, the Tupperware party, the coffee morning circle and populates it with the kind of product range that Tupperware, to its eternal loss, never thought to stock. Women are seated in a warm circle in a 1970s wood panelled living room, red carpet, candelabra on the wall, the intimate warmth of a room full of friends dressed in their finest: yellow jacket, purple dress, black turtleneck, navy dress, relaxed, social, completely at ease. The hostess in the centre, purple dress, glasses, warm smile, the confident energy of a woman who has found exactly the right product for her group is cradling a rocket propelled grenade launcher with the casual pride of someone presenting the season's must have home security system.
