COURSE OVERVIEW:

Welcome to the Leadership Models & Philosophies course. This program will equip you with a solid understanding of the major leadership models, styles, and philosophical foundations that shape how leaders think, behave, and influence others. You will explore the differences between leadership and management, examine classical and contemporary leadership theories, analyse multiple leadership styles, and understand how leadership philosophies guide ethical behaviour, decision-making, and organisational impact. This course also introduces the key trait, behavioural, situational, and functional models that continue to inform leadership practice in modern organisations.

This course begins by examining the meaning of leadership models, leadership philosophy, and leadership styles, highlighting the conceptual differences among the three. You will explore how leadership models offer structured frameworks for understanding behaviour, how leadership philosophies guide values and decision-making, and how leadership styles shape day-to-day interactions. This section also introduces the difference between leaders and managers and explains why leadership requires influence, vision, and inspiration, whereas management relies more on planning, organising, and control. You will examine Transformational Leadership and its four main elements, followed by Transactional Leadership and its four elements, and how each approach shapes motivation, performance, and organisational culture.

You will then explore a wide spectrum of leadership styles. This includes the Autocratic Leadership Style and the characteristics of autocratic leaders, the Bureaucratic Leadership Style and its characteristics, the Charismatic Leadership Style, the Democratic Leadership Style, and the Laissez-Faire Leadership Style. You will also examine the Task-Oriented Leadership Style and the behavioural tendencies that define task-focused leaders. These styles illustrate how leaders vary in their directives, interpersonal approaches, focus on results, and levels of involvement.

The next learning area focuses on leadership models, including classical and contemporary frameworks. You will explore the Behavioural Leadership Model, the Functional Leadership Model, and Kouzes & Posner’s Five Leadership Practices. This section also introduces John Adair’s Action-Centred Leadership, the Integrated Leadership Model, the Situational Leadership Model, and Bolman & Deal’s Four Frame Leadership Model. You will examine Hersey and Blanchard’s Situational Leadership, Kurt Lewin’s 3 Styles Model, the Path-Goal Theory, and Tannenbaum & Schmidt’s Leadership Behaviour Continuum. In addition, you will explore the Fiedler Contingency Model, the Vroom-Yetton Leadership Model, and major trait theories including the Carlyle and Galton Trait Theory, Kouzes and Posner Trait Theory, and Ralph Stogdill’s Trait Theory.

A further part of the program examines leadership philosophies, which shape the underlying beliefs and ethical principles guiding a leader’s behaviour. You will explore the Authentic Leadership Philosophy, the Ethical Leadership Philosophy, and the main elements that define ethical leadership, including integrity, fairness, transparency, and responsibility. You will also examine French and Raven’s Leadership Philosophy based on sources of power, the Servant Leadership Philosophy, and the 10 characteristics of the servant leader, such as listening, stewardship, empathy, and community building. This section concludes with an exploration of Value-Based Leadership, which emphasises aligning actions with personal and organisational values.

By the end of this course you will be able to distinguish between leadership models, styles, and philosophies; apply different leadership frameworks to practical situations; recognise how leadership theories shape behaviour and decision-making; and adopt leadership philosophies that support ethical conduct, personal growth, and effective influence in modern organisational environments.

A Beta Worth Rooting For
Format: Kindle
In Spare, Violet Fox flips the omegaverse on its head, giving us a Beta heroine determined to make her mark. Joining the Beta Trials to support her sick father, she's thrown into a pack that doesn't want her, especially the possessive Alphas. But here's the twist: their sweet Omega turns out to be her scent match. Cue the angst, forbidden tension, and a slow-burn romance that will make your heart ache in the best way. Violet Fox delivers an emotional, refreshing take on the genre, proving Betas aren't "spares." They're stars.

Beta, Alpha, Omega oh my!
Format: Kindle
Omegas are precious and given to Alphas & their packs... but the Betas want in too. To this end, the Beta government is rolling out its trial of assigning a Beta to each Alpha-Omega pack. But forcing a Beta into a pack where they are not wanted will not end well... Of course, no one expected the Omega to fall for the assigned Beta. Great read and cliffhanger

A familiar story, just with…..less.
Format: Kindle
So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.

Fun with a late blooming omega
Format: Kindle
I like this book. The story is fun, cute, and sexy. There's just a little drama, some excellent, steamy scenes, and a fairly good relationship building storyline. I especially like how all the main characters are a bit older than the usual 20 somethings I tend to see in this kind of book. Having said that, I wish there were more descriptions of the places, as well as the food in the fancy restaurant. I enjoyed the cocktails at the club, so I missed that kind of detail when Gray took Madison on a dinner date. I also wish there had been more interaction between Lucas and Madison, and Lucas and Rian. It felt a bit lopsided, with a focus on Rian, Madison, and Gray. I wish it had been proofread - there are a lot of typos, but nothing too distracting.
