Installation Guide

Review the full service manual for your Honda BF25D or BF30D before starting. Ensure the engine is off, cooled down, and disconnected from any fuel source before proceeding.

  1. Prepare the workspace. Secure the outboard in a service stand and gather all tools. Verify all package contents are present before beginning.
  2. Drain engine oil. Remove the drain plug and drain the oil fully. Replace the drain plug using the new Drain Gaskets (12-191833) included in the kit.
  3. Install the new oil filter. Remove the old oil filter and install the new Oil Filter (15400-PFB-014). Apply a light film of fresh oil to the gasket before threading it on.
  4. Replace the fuel filter. Relieve any fuel system pressure, then remove the old Fuel Filter (16910-ZV4-015) and install the new one. Check for any fuel line cracking before reconnecting.
  5. Access the water pump housing. Remove the lower unit per your service manual procedure to expose the water pump assembly.
  6. Replace the impeller. Remove the old impeller and install the new Impeller (19210-ZV7-003). Fit the new Key (90752-ZV7-000) and ensure the impeller seats correctly in the housing.
  7. Replace the water pump gasket and O-rings. Install the new Gasket (19233-ZV5-000) and O-ring (91356-ZV5-000) to ensure a proper water-tight seal.
  8. Replace the thermostat. Access the thermostat housing, remove the old thermostat, and install the new Thermostat (19300-ZV5-043). Ensure the housing O-rings seat fully.
  9. Install the gear oil pump. Remove the old gear oil pump and fit the new Gear Oil Pump (24OP149). Ensure all seating surfaces are clean and the O-rings (91301-ZW4-003) are properly installed.
  10. Secure with cotter pin. Where applicable, install the new Cotter Pin (90758-ZV1-000) and bend the ends to lock it in place. Never reuse old cotter pins.
  11. Reassemble the lower unit. Reinstall the lower unit per the service manual. Refill with the appropriate grade gear oil and engine oil to the specified levels.
  12. Test run the engine. Start the engine in a water supply or test tank and confirm proper water pump flow (tell-tale stream), no leaks, and normal operating temperature before returning to service.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

How do I confirm this kit fits my Honda outboard?
This kit is designed for Honda BF25D and BF30D engines. Check the model designation on your engine's label and cross-reference the OEM part number 06211-ZV7-505 with your service documentation to confirm compatibility.

How often should I replace the water pump impeller on my BF25D or BF30D?
Honda generally recommends replacing the water pump impeller every 3 years or 300 hours of operation, whichever comes first. In high-usage or saltwater environments, more frequent replacement is advisable.

How often should the oil and fuel filters be replaced?
The oil filter should typically be replaced at each annual service or every 100 hours. The fuel filter replacement interval is generally every 2 years or 200 hours, but inspect it more frequently if you operate in areas with lower fuel quality.

What are common signs that the impeller or thermostat needs replacing?
For the impeller: reduced or absent water flow from the tell-tale outlet, overheating warnings, or visible wear/cracking on the impeller blades. For the thermostat: the engine consistently runs too hot or too cold, or temperature gauge fluctuations are noted during normal operation.

Can I install this kit myself, or do I need a technician?
Experienced DIY mechanics familiar with outboard lower unit service can typically complete this installation. However, professional installation is recommended to ensure correct torque specs, proper seal seating, and safe operation.

Are the O-rings and gaskets in the kit compatible with marine fuel and oil?
Yes. All seals, O-rings, and gaskets in this kit are selected for compatibility with standard marine fuels and lubricants as specified for Honda BF25D and BF30D engines.

This listing is an aftermarket replacement part (not an OEM component). We build to OEM specifications using comparable-grade materials. Production is done in an ISO9002-certified facility, and each batch is inspected for consistent performance.

junk
radio runs hot even when not transmitting. programming cable does not work with win 11. it does work with chirp once you find a 10 year old pc to program it. programming from the front panel seems impossible. knobs are made of rubber and keep falling off. i am sure i will find more once i use it for a while if it lasts. Update: I was able to trudge through the manual and make the changes i needed from the front panel, took a while with the darn buttons falling off. Manual is not good but with some patience you can work through it. If you need a tiny radio and your budget allows i would look at the anytone 778.

good radio for the money
THE GOOD.. These are very good radios for the money, we currently have 6 of these the oldest is probably 3 years old, we can mounter all local emergency services, easily get into all of our local ham 2 meter and 70 cm repeaters. It IS NOT part 95 compliant by the FCC which means it IS NOT LEGAL for GMRS use, but it can broadcast and receive on all FRS, MURS and GMRS frequency's, use at your own risk on these frequency's. One of these radio's are in a ranch jeep it is our oldest radio, this thing has lived in hot dusty environment, been soaked with water and mud and has held up great. Easy to program with CHIRP. THE BAD.. They claim the they are 25 watt VHF 20 watt UHF, The ones we have only put out 18-19 watts, which is plenty of power for most repeater operation. The data port and speaker port are side by side on the back if you have your radio mounted to were you cant see the rear and put the programing cable into the speaker port it WILL blow your speaker.

It works, quality could be better
I was going to use this on a trip from Boise to Alaska as a multi use radio to listen to LADD, FRS, GMRS, and talk on Ham frequencies. After programming it and playing around with it, I decided to take my FT7250D. Like: Small size Lots of memories Audio is OK Programming cable included. Multi frequency monitoring, if you’re into that (I’m not). Dislike: Quality - knobs are soft rubber and come off easily. 4 frequency displays. Why? Cannot turn them off. Display text is small because of the 4 displays. Accessing features and menu items can be confusing.
