"A very youthful and taut wine from nose to palate there’s a striking aromatic lift with scents of citrus then green pear skin, some apple and plenty of fresh quince. Dry, salivating, saline and new, flavours of white fleshed orchard fruits laced with citrus are persistent on the palate with a backbone of acidity. Well made, needs cellar time to settle. 1 x Quartz Reef Single Vineyard Central Otago Pinot Gris 2024

A lifted bouquet of ripe nectarine, lemon zest, and wild herbs leads into a vibrant palate of white florals, juicy pear, and soft citrus. Elegant and finely structured, this vintage shows purity and poise, with a lingering mineral finish. Delightful now, with the potential to evolve beautifully in bottle. Organic.

Food Pairing: Pair beautifully with fresh seafood, we were thinking snapper or pan-seared scallops.

1 x Kumeu River Estate Pinot Gris 2025

The aromas have typical peach and stone fruit notes tinged with the floral perfume that we have come to expect from Pinot Gris. On the palate the wine is rich and complex with a lively texture on the palate. Pinot Gris is a variety that goes particularly well with food, including quite intensely flavoured dishes. It is also one of the few wine styles that can handle the spiciness of chilli, so together with the sweet succulence of prawns, a nicely chilled bottle of Kumeu River Pinot Gris makes up a spectacular combination. Vegan.
