Engineered for Electric Vehicle Fire Safety

Unlike traditional extinguishing methods, the Bridgehill Fire Blanket is engineered to handle the unique challenges of EV and lithium-ion battery fires.
It works by instantly smothering flames and cutting off oxygen, allowing the fire to burn out naturally—without water, foam, or chemicals.

Never use water under the blanket. Doing so may cause dangerous gas buildup, hydrogen explosion risk, steam pressure, or re-ignition once oxygen reenters.

How to Deploy

Bridgehill recommends deployment by two trained personnel wearing proper firefighting PPE and breathing apparatus.

1. Unroll and center the blanket near the burning vehicle.

2. Grab the handles and pull the blanket smoothly over the vehicle in a single controlled movement.

3. Ensure full coverage, extending completely to the floor with no air gaps.

In windy conditions, use four personnel and tie a rope or strap around the vehicle base to keep the blanket secured.

Recommended Duration

• For electric vehicle fires, leave the blanket in place for at least 20 minutes, monitoring the temperature with a thermal camera.

• Since thermal runaway in lithium-ion batteries can continue for up to 48 hours, maintain coverage for at least one hour after the reaction stops.

• During towing, keep the blanket securely strapped around the base of the vehicle.

Post-Fire Handling

Once the fire is fully suppressed:

• Carefully drag the blanket away from the vehicle.

• Wear full PPE and respiratory protection, as the surface may be contaminated with carcinogens or toxic residue.

• Dispose of the blanket safely or send it with the vehicle for insurance processing.
