Galway Folk Festival: Ímar, Ger O'Donnell & Trevor Sexton, Niall McCabe & Yonder Boysmar Fast, freewheeling, contemporary and yet retaining their pure trad roots, mar are an exciting Glasgow based five piece. Together, award winning musicians Adam Brown, Ryan Murphy, Toms Callister, Adam Rhodes, and Mohsen Amini are committed to preserving the legacy of the genre. Comprising of current and former members of Mnran, Mec Lir, RURA, and Talisk, they celebrate the sounds of Scotland, Ireland and the Isle of Man with their raw performances.

Ger O'Donnell & Trevor Sexton

Two folk powerhouses on the Irish scene, Ger O’Donnell and Trevor Sexton combine their multi-instrumental talents, to deliver a haunting mix of music firmly rooted in the traditional genre. This is acoustic folk at its finest. Their gentle ballads are steeped in nostalgia, sparking a flame of familiarity and the grounding call of home.

Niall McCabe

With self-effacing humour and stories told of growing up on a remote Irish Island, Niall McCabe possesses an effortless charm. Like the wild Atlantic landscape of his home, McCabe’s songs feel timeless and natural, with intricate guitar work that brings a lightness to the weight of Island isolation. As well as becoming an accomplished finger-style guitar player, Niall has been lending his unique voice to Irish trad-fusion band ‘Beoga’, touring Ireland, Europe, and the USA while also playing support for Ed Sheeran, Foy Vance, and Johnny Swim, and more recently opening for Chris Issak on his UK Tour. McCabe’s eagerly anticipated ‘Rituals’ album has received critical acclaim.

Yonder Boys

This Berlin based trio are a fusion of international influences, spanning Chile, Australia and the USA, with a dash of bohemia from their adopted European home.  As a result, their music is a fascinating blend of traditional old-time Americana, rock, Latin and Celtic rhythms, pop sensibilities, and a touch of psychedelia. Together, this trio break through any formulaic concept of country with their genre jumping sound. This eclectic mix creates a body of work that is both familiar and refreshingly unique, making the Yonder Boys stand out in the world of modern folk.
