The rectangular shape of the roost creates plenty of nesting space, with small openings on each corner of the base for drainage. The 3" diameter entry allows these birds passage, while remaining protected from the elements with the sloped roof and significant overhang.
An image of a screech owl clinging onto a branch is burnt into the front panel of the home, for added design on the piece. Ventilation holes near the top of the shelter provide temperature regulation, for the comfort and safety of the nestlings, while a unique thumbscrew at the base of the front panel keeps the home securely latched. Open this panel for nest checks, or to move the included sliding baffle. This wooden panel rests within grooves on the sides of the home, and can sit at the bottom of the roost to protect eggs and nestlings during maintenance.
At the end of the season, or if you opt not to house owls, slide the panel upward and use the included wooden tabs to keep it in place, blocking the entry hole. Securely mount this unit to a post or tree by drilling through the back and top lip. The wooden body adds a natural charm to the piece, and its durable hardware and beautiful image create a lasting roost.
