The Naiad Project

In 2010, Rega embarked on a seven-year mission to build the ultimate ultra-lightweight, high-rigidity turntable. The result was the Naiad — a strictly limited run of 50 units sold at $38,000 each. The Rega Naia is the production version of that vision, transferring every pioneering idea into a turntable that can be built to the same uncompromising standard for every customer.

The Stiffest Plinth Rega Has Ever Produced

The Naia's skeletal plinth is constructed from graphene-impregnated carbon fiber over a Tancast 8 polyurethane foam core — both materials drawn from the aerospace industry. The random micro-structure of the foam core dissipates vibration, while the graphene-carbon skin prevents any measurable movement during playback. Two ceramic aluminum oxide braces reinforce the structure further, making this the stiffest production plinth Rega has ever created.

RB Titanium Tonearm

The RB Titanium is the most accurate and advanced production tonearm in Rega's history. The entire structure is engineered to minimize mechanical joints while using the stiffest available materials at every critical point:

• One-piece titanium vertical bearing housing
• Titanium vertical spindle assembly
• Hand-polished single-piece aluminum arm tube for minimum mass
• Tungsten balance weight shaft for maximum stability
• Near-frictionless horizontal and vertical movement with no measurable free play

ZTA Bearing Assembly

The Naia uses a custom aluminum sub-platter with a spindle and central bearing manufactured from ZTA (Zirconium Toughened Alumina) — a material originally developed for the paper industry, offering far greater abrasion resistance than standard alumina. Each bearing set is produced through an exceptionally complex process:

1. Powder preparation and spray drying
2. Isostatic pressing — equal pressure applied in all directions
3. Turning, then firing at 1,600°C for three days
4. Precision grinding and boring
5. Spindle and bearing kept as a matched pair for a guaranteed perfect fit

Since both components share identical hardness, wear is minimal. An ultra-thin layer of fully synthetic oil reduces friction further. The result is the hardest, most accurate, and longest-lasting bearing assembly Rega has ever produced.

Reference Power Supply

The included reference PSU uses a DSP (Digital Signal Processing) generator built on a high-stability crystal to produce a near-perfect sinusoidal waveform for the 24V low-noise motor. Each motor is factory-tuned individually using the power supply's vibration removal and fine speed adjustment functions. Electronic speed change between 33⅓ and 45 RPM is handled conveniently from the unit, with user-adjustable fine speed trimming for long-term accuracy.

Triple Belt Drive

After three years of collaboration with specialist chemists, Rega developed a bespoke rubber compound using a unique curing system that delivers superior consistency of modulus across every belt. Manufactured on Rega-designed tooling inspired by Formula 1 engine part production, each belt is perfectly round and dimensionally precise — a critical factor in achieving stable, accurate playback speed.
