Handwoven from natural iraca palm in the artisan town of Usiacurí, our Atarraya Placemat forms part of CasaLatina’s Weaves Capsule — a celebration of round placemats crafted using intricate weaving patterns distinctive to this celebrated Colombian weaving community.

Inspired by the traditional fishing nets cast along the Magdalena River, Atarraya takes its name and artistry from the radial geometry of these hand-thrown nets. Its complex, open weave reflects both movement and precision, showcasing the remarkable technical skill passed down through generations of Usiacurí artisans.

Entirely handwoven and sustainably crafted, Atarraya brings texture, structure and quiet drama to the table. Its circular form creates a balanced foundation for layered place settings and frames our hand-painted plates and bowls perfectly, enhancing both pattern and colour.

My dogs like these, but they're not quite what I expected. They're very thin and oddly flexible. By advertising they were "rawhide free" I assumed they'd be a little longer lasting (like a rawhide replacement). It's not a big deal because they're not expensive, but they don't last long once I give them to my dogs. I don't like the smell much, but I'm pregnant and more smell-sensitive than most now. My husband doesn't seem as bothered by the smell, so they might not be too bad for most people. The smell isn't bad enough that I wouldn't repurchase, but I think I'd probably choose something else since they don't last long and I was looking for something to keep the dogs busy for at least a few minutes.
