Artistic Context: Gauguin's Journey to the South Seas

The Influence of Tahitian Culture on Gauguin's Work

Paul Gauguin, a pivotal figure in Post-Impressionism, embarked on a transformative journey to Tahiti in 1891. This tropical paradise profoundly influenced his artistic vision. Gauguin sought to escape European civilization and immerse himself in the rich, vibrant culture of the South Seas. The indigenous Tahitian lifestyle, with its deep spiritual connections and colorful traditions, inspired Gauguin to create works that celebrated the beauty of simplicity and nature.

Symbolism and Color: A Dive into Gauguin's Palette

Gauguin's use of color in "Maternity" is striking and intentional. He employed bold, non-naturalistic colors to convey emotion and symbolism. The warm hues of red and yellow evoke feelings of warmth and intimacy, while the deep blues of the ocean suggest tranquility. Each color choice reflects Gauguin's desire to express the essence of his subjects rather than their physical appearance, making the painting a vibrant exploration of maternal love and connection.

Gauguin's unique approach to brushwork sets him apart from his contemporaries, making his works instantly recognizable.

Color Theory: The Emotional Impact of Gauguin's Choices

Mostly great, except one little annoyance
Color: Black&Silver, Color: Black&Silver
Pros- lightweight, small, very accurate, easy to clean, timer included. Cons- I use this to brew espresso on my Breville Touch and to get an accurate reading, you have to place something flat (structured) under the scale. Otherwise the reading just jumps all over the place. I know lot of espresso machines have the same base, so this might be an issue for some! This is my reason for 4/5 stars. It’s an easy fix, it’s just kind of annoying. Value for the price seems to be on point. It’s easy to clean. It has a timer as well as scale (nice for espresso). Buttons work the first time you push them. That’s it that’s all

Great little espresso machine for home
Color: Silver
I purchased this as a test case for home latte making. Considering the price, it is an excellent starter machine. The learning curve is not very dramatic and it is relatively easy to maintain. Unit is attractive and build quality is very good. Be sure to use filtered water. I have been using it regularly for months now and it has proved reliable. This has a very small footprint and would fit on most countertops. If you are looking for a starter espresso maker, this is a great option until you want to get really serious.

Pretty good machine!
Color: Silver
I’ve had the machine for about a month now and I like it! There is a learning curve but once you figure it out it’s pretty easy to use. For reference: I make a double latte every morning. I use 150 mLs of oat milk and froth/steam the milk for about 40-45 seconds. I refill the water tank weekly. Star deduction because the manual that comes with the machine isn’t great. The FAQ table is ambiguous and the entire manual is poorly written.
