The PH of the soil influences the intensity of the red of the mophead flowers increasing acidity will deepen the dark pink until they are a vivid red, and blooms from late spring through summer. The flowers attract pollinators. Best bloom in partial sun and rich, moist well drained soils.

MAINTENANCE NEEDS: Medium Maintenance. Mulch soil to maintain moisture and overwinter. If pruning is needed do so after flowering. Slight susceptibility to bud blight, wilt, leaf spot, and mildew. Aphids are occasional problems.
