In this exhilarating adventure, players take on the roles of mages stationed atop a central tower, prepared to defend their stronghold from relentless orcish hordes. The battlefield is divided into six lanes, each containing three sectors that serve as the path for the advancing orcs. Your mission is to thwart their charge and protect your tower by defeating the orcs before they can reach you.
At the start of each round, players draw a fate card that dictates which category of orcs will advance, often introducing unpredictable rule changes that can impact strategies. There are three types of orcs, each with unique strengths and abilities that players can harness upon defeating them. This adds a layer of tactical depth, as mages must strategize their spells and resources to maximize their damage against these fierce adversaries while also adapting to the changing battlefield conditions.
The game concludes when the orc supply in one of the four lanes is depleted, prompting an exciting final scoring phase. Players calculate their points based on the number of defeated orcs, the value indicated on the creature counter, bonuses from support spells learned, and penalties for any poison cards remaining in their decks. The player with the highest score is crowned "Master Mage," highlighting their skill in both strategy and orc squashing!
