"Tracey Elliot-Reep is one of today’s true adventurers, who has completed many extraordinary treks on horseback. The great advantage for the rest of us is that she is also a highly skilled photographer – well known on Dartmoor for her cards and calendars – and records her travels through words and pictures, so that we can all share her travels and enjoy the beautiful places she visits." Jonathan Constant:

Tracey’s book, Riding By Faith Across Southern Europe, is a graphic and gripping account of her latest exploits, taking us from Greece, through Italy, Switzerland, France and Spain. Just like her last major journey, when she rode all the way from Mexico to Canada, Tracey flew out with limited funds, bought two local ponies, and headed off into the hills, with only half an idea of which path she was going to take.

The journey was a true test of endurance, taking Tracey and her Greek ponies from the arid heat of Greece, to the high altitude of the Alpine mountain passes, and on to an ancient pilgrim trail, the Way of St James, all the way through France and the dry, windswept plains of northern Spain. She faced many challenges, ranging from bureaucracy and paperwork, to a continual search for food, water and a safe place to camp – even in Europe, these are not the kind of things a woman with two ponies can ever take for granted.

Riding By Faith Across Southern Europe is packed with beautiful pictures of landscapes, animals, people and historic buildings. When you’re not enjoying the photos, you’re getting drawn into Tracey’s colourful and enjoyable story. A captivating book for anyone who has a sense of adventure.

Review by Devon Life Magazine:

“The narrative and photography in this book I found totally captivating. I felt as it I was travelling right there with Tracey in all her challenges. She is so real and honest, but also so extraordinarily courageous and immensely resolute – an extremely unusual lady indeed!” Louise Brown Oxfordshire “Catch this reading and visual opportunity to travel with Tracey in the spirit and style of the most respected great travellers of the ancient world. Tracey I really loved your book, including your brilliant selection of quotes, please keep up the good work on your higher levels of conscienceness!” Edmund Marriage, Herefordshire Western Morning News by Annabel Groom “Faith in God – and two nimble ponies – got Tracey across Europe’s mountains.”

Anyone with a sense of adventure will be enthralled by Tracey Elliott-Reep’s latest journey across Southern Europe. Although Dartmoor’s very own female version of Crocodile Dundee has completed many extraordinary treks on horseback, she admits that her latest was the toughest. Her new book – Riding By Faith Across Southern Europe – colourfully depicts a journey of extreme contrasts. Travelling from the scorching summer heat of Greece to the windswept pilgrim trail of Northern Spain with her two Greek ponies, Ermis and Yoana, she passes through the historic culture and stunning scenery of Greece, Italy, Switzerland, France and Spain.

“I didn’t even know I was going to travel through Europe until about two months before,” Tracey says with a huge carefree smile. Her faith in God, and her love of horses, adventure and photography have taken her all over the world and it was while she was on her way home from New Zealand that she bumped into a woman from Nebraska who suggested she get in touch with Lord Bates – the former MP Michael Bates – who was soon to begin a ‘peace walk’ from Olympia in Greece to Westminster, London.

Back home on Dartmoor she got in touch and agreed to take photos of him on some sections of his walk. “I just took it for granted that I’d travel with horses – I didn’t intend to walk all the way,” she laughed. “I asked God that if I was meant to be doing another ride then I would need a genuine contact in Greece.” Sure enough, three weeks before the off, while doing a charity talk in the Channel Islands, she met a Greek woman whose cousin bred racehorses. “Okay, so I knew I was meant to go this way,” said Tracey who admits this is how she manages her life.

She recalls: “I got the ponies but never caught up with Lord Bates – he went to Albania but I’d already had enough of the main roads and city, so we never met up.” Tracey points out that all her trips are by faith. “I wanted to go to Italy rather than Albania. I’ve always followed my heart – I do not do something if I don’t have peace about it.”

And so she headed to the West coast of Greece with her two faithful companions, grateful that they were dark in colour – despite asking for light coloured ponies as they make for better photos – as they were much better camouflaged when camping rough. “I had to get off the road at night and these two I could hide,” she says with some determination. She hit a “load of bureaucracy” when the Greek ministry vets said it was impossible to take the horses to Italy. “I said nothing is impossible with God.” Yet it still took nine long days, with the help of vets, before she finally got her papers.

“We left the hot dry heat of Greece for the hot humidity of Italy which brought it’s own problems so we were glad to head north and be in the mountains and the cool,” says Tracey who was about to face one of her toughest moments. “We climbed over from the vale of Aosta and it became really mountainous in Switzerland. If had known how bad it was going to be I wouldn’t have done it,” she exclaimed.

“It was so steep and there were really big boulders too, but I had no option. It took seven hours to get up one side of the mountain – I had to unload the pack off the ponies and drag it up myself and then go back for the ponies one by one.” She adds: “At one point Yoana got her foot caught and started slipping backwards. We just had to get through it and I prayed for both ponies and that none of our legs would get broken.” After a note of seriousness, Tracey then roars with laughter, “It was good to get to the top!”

The ponies were rested at Geneva while Tracey had to head back home on business for a month – she is well known on Dartmoor for her cards and calendars – before embarking on their next long journey. “I was going to head north to the Channel and then home but in my heart I thought I should be going south, even though logically it did not makes sense,” explains Tracey. “I then found out about the old Camino trail and headed south west through France.” “It was lovely to get off the roads and it was a beautiful trail,” she recalls. “I met so many different nationalities including some French cowboys. We got to know each other quite well and from then on I was known as Crocodile Dundee Woman!” she quips.

Tracey says that in all her books she tries to encourage people to live their dreams and to do what is in their hearts, “as I believe we are only here for a short time”. She quotes a favourite of hers, from an unknown: “The human spirit once stretched by an adventure of faith will never return to its original size.” She moves on to when she camped near the top of the Pyrenees and then points to the front cover of her book.

“I knew Monte Bianco was going to be my front cover. I usually camped where I could find grass for the ponies and the night before I’d come up the valley but the grass was not so good, however I had said to a gite owner I was coming so I had to go. It was freezing but I suddenly knew why I was destined to be here – as dawn broke residents said to me it was the first time they had seen Monte Bianco in two weeks. There was an Italian guy there and I said you’ve got to take this picture of me with the ponies – this is what I want!” Tracey says after a hundred or so shots, he retorted, “I’m sure one will be all right!” He is duly acknowledged as Remy Bois in the back of her book.

Talking about her ponies, Tracey says they were incredibly tough, and fortunately good “doers” as getting grain was a big problem throughout her journey and good grass was hard to come by. “They were very good in traffic too. They were slow but that was good in some ways as sometimes I’d have several lanes of traffic either side of me.”

Both Ermis and Yoana live in Devon now. “I brought them back from Northern Spain. The Spanish ministry vets said the papers were wrong but I said I’m not leaving them in Spain even if I have to ride them back! – I will get over the Channel somehow,” said Tracey. Ermis is now pony clubbing up at Tiverton with a teenager, while Yoana has gone on winter loan with her Highland pony to Kingswear. Tracey says that her ride across Southern Europe is undoubtedly her toughest. “It was by far the most varied with its culture, people, nationalities and history but the bureaucracy was almost crippling,” she says, and it was more dangerous too. “In Italy there is no way around the tunnels – I would rely on my flashing head light and hope and pray that no logging trucks would come through at the same time; going up over the Alps was a real challenge with the steepness and the boulders. Then she smiles: “What is so exciting about these trips is that you never know who you are going to meet around the corner.” Link to Devon Life Magazine review

Wow! So impressed with the challenge you took on . What an adventure you had. Not for the faint hearted, that is for sure.

I love your books you have written about your adventures! Pamela Adler

I was given two of your books for Christmas- ‘A celebration of The Dartmoor Pony’ (I thoroughly enjoyed this! and think the selection of photographs are brilliant) and ‘Riding by Faith Across Southern Europe’. I am completely amazed at your journey! Again, I love the photography throughout the book. Also, I like the passages and quotes at the beginning of each section. Thanks you for your amazing and inspiring books and photography. I’m really enjoying the read and I hope that I can take a similar adventure myself one day! Thank you again.

I’ve just finished reading the most interesting book, I think I have ever read!

This was a fabulous book and Tracey has signed it for me and included a lovely hand-written postcard, diary and some bookmarks too! It arrived very promptly and intact! A beautiful book and great investment, which will be read many times.

I loved the book so much that I have just ordered your one Riding across America. I do quite a bit of pack horse trekking in Australia, mostly in National and State Parks and in 2001/2002 I did six months on the Biccentennial National Trail that runs from just north of Melbourne , 5000kms to Cooktown in far north Queensland. I found your sayings scattered through the book, either from the bible or inspirational people, wonderful and I am surprised by how many match the ones I already have on wall hangings or have copied into notebooks in the past. Your book with your faith in God was like a bolt out of the blue, showing just how it works, even when things get tough. So, thankyou, and once again for publishing your book.

Just reading your Across Europe book now (it was supposed to be a present but couldn’t put it down!) a great read, love it Tracey.

I have been enjoying your fascinating journey across Europe. It was so good that you managed to get your tow horses back to England. What an inspiring story!

Everything you need for your robot maintenance
Color: Saros 10r-20/Qrevo Curvx Accessories, Color: Saros 10r-20/Qrevo Curvx Accessories
Automatic floor robots are a great convenience and, at this point, I can't picture our house without one. Being able to turn them on at night and wake up to vacuum and mopped floors is pretty amazing. The problem is that you eventually have to do maintenance on them to keep them running. I guess it's not that much to ask of you since they do go for a long time with only water refills and waste water dumps. It's hard to find kits that are comprehensive enough to cover all the needs, so when I saw this one, I had to pick it up. The kit contains multiples of every consumable on the Roborock (ours is named Mrs. Nesbit). It also comes with a screwdriver and a blade/brush to clean dirt and hair. The small spinning brush is easy to replace, and the only one you need the screwdriver for. The mopping pad functional on the Roborock is one of my favorite features, so having multiple replacements makes this kit very attractive. They simple peel off of the Velcro and lay back the same. The split rollers take a minute to figure out, but you don't need to loosen the screws - they pull right off the U shaped plastic pieces they are attached to, but keep track of which goes with which color because each plastic piece only goes back on its correct side. The easiest to replace is the filter on the dust bin in the robot since it just pops out and the new one fits in. The lasts step is to replace the dust bag in the base itself, which is very simple. Overall, the quality and fit of all the pieces included in this kit were great. I didn't run across anything that was off or I had to force on. While my pads and brushes weren't as bad as my other vacuum (named The Beast), the vacuum had been warning me that their life was coming to an end and I needed to swap them out. Now I have multiple replacements for the future and my Roborock is good to go for many months. I will be picking this kit up again when I run out and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it at this price point.

Good Budget Replacement Set, but Mop Pads Differ from Original
Color: Saros 10r-20/Qrevo Curvx Accessories
These replacement accessories fit my Roborock Qrevo S5 without any issues. I run my robot daily because I have a dog, so I go through mop pads pretty quickly and have already used this set for a couple of cleaning runs around the house on vinyl floors. The bags seal properly, and I did not notice any loss of suction or performance with the filters compared to the original parts. The biggest difference was the mop pads themselves. They feel noticeably different from the OEM Roborock ones and seem a bit lower in quality. Even so, they still got the job done for normal daily cleaning and handled pet hair and dirt well. Since the original pads also wear out for me after multiple washes, this set still feels like a practical and more affordable alternative overall.

Not as good as the oem accessories
Color: Saros 10r-20/Qrevo Curvx Accessories, Color: Saros 10r-20/Qrevo Curvx Accessories
I have a roborock saros 10r and all of these accessories seem to be compatible and work with my robovac however the quality of them isn’t nearly the same level. The mop pads material are much coarser and less fine than the original. The side brushed bristles weren’t nearly as tightly bound together. The roller brush isn’t as well made. The cleaning performance I think is similar but i suspect they will not last as long as the oem accessories which are just much better made. Over it’s a mix on value.

All the parts needed to maintain your Roborock robot, with a great fit and finish.
Color: Saros 10r-20/Qrevo Curvx Accessories, Color: Saros 10r-20/Qrevo Curvx Accessories
This is a great consumable parts replacement package for many Roborock robots. I utilized it for my Saros 10R. The parts all fit great and honestly look and feel just like the OEM parts that came with the robot. Over time, I have purchased new consumable parts for my Saros 10R from various sources, but I think that I will be using this kit in the future. The kit comes with everything one needs to maintain Roborock robots, as outlined in its description. The main brushes are of good quality and fit well. I have found that the main brushes and the filter fit are the hardest things for third-party vendors to duplicate, and these do that well. What I like most is the mop heads. They are of very good quality and may be better than the OEM mop heads. Everything in this kit fits well and mimics the manufacturer's parts closely in both quality and fit. Compared to the cost of Roborock OEM parts, this is a home run.

Nice Value Replacement Kit for the Qrevo CurvX, Brushes Slightly Less Dense Than OEM
Color: Saros 10r-20/Qrevo Curvx Accessories, Color: Saros 10r-20/Qrevo Curvx Accessories
All of the included items fit my Roborock Qrevo CurvX nicely, and the material quality is fairly close to the OEM parts. I also liked the quantity of each item included, since it should be quite a while before I need to buy another replacement kit. The only downside I noticed was that the main roller brushes have about 1/4 fewer bristles than the OEM versions, so they don't seem quite as dense. Other than that, everything fits as expected and the kit seems like a solid value for maintaining the CurvX.
