James Woodburn

1863-1919

Born at York on September 20, 1863, James began life as a doctor’s errand boy but, wanting to become a jockey, he ran away from home. Covering the 13 miles on foot, he arrived at the Hambleton stables of Mr Sanderson, who took an instant liking to the runaway. Woodburn rode his first winner for the stable on Hagioscope (carrying 6 stone 3 lbs) in 1881, beating Othello in the Thirsk Handicap.

A steady stream of winners ensued, including the Lincoln Handicap (twice, on Fulmen, 1886, & Lord George, 1891) and the Ebor in 1891 on Buccaneer. In 1889, he won the Stewards' Cup on Dog Rose & the Liverpool Autumn Cup on Philomel. His classic wins came in the 1889 Oaks on L’Abesse de Jouarre and, in the same year, on Minthe in the One Thousand Guineas. He rode his final winner on Lady MacGregor at Birmingham in 1900.

James, who stood at 5 ft 1 & a half inches tall, was a keen fox-hunter, and was often seen out with the York and Ainsty. He was the brother-in-law to Fred Barrett, each of the jockeys having married a daughter of James Goater, the trainer.

Cheap Insurance Against Headliner Failure
Size: 4-pack
Cheap Insurance Against Headliner Failure If you’ve ever owned a Jeep with a hardtop, you already know that heat, cold, humidity, and constant temperature swings can be tough on adhesives over time. Even when replacement headliner kits include their own adhesive, I still like having a high-quality automotive adhesive on hand for extra peace of mind. This 3M product has been one of my go-to choices for headliner work because it is specifically designed for automotive environments where materials are exposed to extreme summer heat and winter cold. The last thing anyone wants is to spend time installing a headliner only to have corners start sagging or sections pull away months later. The spray pattern is consistent, the adhesion is strong, and it provides the confidence that the installation will hold up long-term. I have found it especially useful for Jeep hardtops, where temperature fluctuations can be much more extreme than in a traditional vehicle. The cans arrived well packaged, and having multiple cans on hand is convenient for larger projects or future repairs. For Jeep owners, restorations, headliner repairs, upholstery projects, or anyone wanting a little extra insurance against adhesive failure, this is a product I would not hesitate to keep in the garage. #FoundItOnAmazon #JeepLife #JeepJKU #HeadlinerRepair #3M #AutomotiveProjects #GarageEssentials #DIYGarage #AmazonFinds #JeepMods #AutomotiveMaintenance

Easy to Use and Professional Results
This adhesive saved me a trip to the upholstery shop. It bonded my fabric headliner back in place with a solid, even hold. No overspray issues, and it dries quickly. Looks like it was professionally done. Two cans were more than enough for the job.

Works good. Too good. If you’re not a pro, you’ll mess it all up. The headliner is up in the beater. But YouTube lied about how easy it is to use this stuff. Very sticky!! Easy to use. Easy to wrinkle the headliner too and just wad it all up. But oh well. It’s a beater. Nuff said.
