The Blackmagic Design Spares - Camera PCC6KPro - ND Assembly is a precision mechanical and optical module unique to the "Pro" and "G2" versions of the Pocket 6K. This assembly is a motorized filter wheel that sits between the lens mount and the sensor, allowing the operator to toggle between Clear, 2-stop, 4-stop, and 6-stop IR-cut ND filters at the touch of a button.

The Mechanical Heart of the Pro

Unlike external filters, this internal assembly is integrated into the camera's core processing:

  • Motorized Precision: It uses a high-speed micro-stepper motor to snap the glass filters into place with perfect alignment.

  • IR-Cut Integrated: The glass in this assembly isn't just darkened; it includes specialized infrared (IR) filtration to prevent the "red shift" often seen when using heavy ND on digital sensors.

  • Metadata Communication: The assembly communicates its current position to the Main PCB so the specific ND value can be recorded into the BRAW metadata.

When to Replace the ND Assembly

This is a mechanical part with moving glass, making it one of the more sensitive components in the camera:

  • "ND Filter Error" Message: If the camera displays a software error when you try to change filters, the motor has likely stalled or the position sensor has failed.

  • Physical Obstruction/Jamming: If you hear a "grinding" or "clicking" noise when pressing the ND buttons, a mechanical gear may have stripped or a foreign object has entered the assembly.

  • Dust or "Oil Splatter": If you see blurry spots on your image that don't go away after cleaning your lens or the sensor's outer glass, dust may be trapped inside the ND assembly glass layers, or internal lubricant may have migrated onto the filter.

  • Filter Cracking: While rare, a severe physical shock to the camera can cause the internal glass filters to shatter or dislodge from their circular carrier.

Key Features

  • Genuine OEM Part: Essential for maintaining the specific color science and IR-cut performance Blackmagic intended for the 6K Pro.

  • Sealed Optical Path: Designed to be as airtight as possible to prevent "dust donuts" from appearing on the sensor.

  • Electronic Interface: Includes the ribbon cable and connector required to plug directly into the Main PCB.

Technical Installation Note

DANGER: Level 4 (Expert) Repair. Replacing the ND assembly is one of the most difficult repairs on this camera.

  1. Clean-Room Environment: You are opening the "chamber of secrets." Any dust that enters the camera during this repair will end up on your sensor. You should use a localized HEPA air filter or a "clean box" during installation.

  2. Sensor Alignment: The ND assembly is sandwiched between the lens mount and the sensor block. Removing it requires removing the sensor. You must be extremely careful not to touch the sensor's OLPF (Optical Low Pass Filter) during the process.

  3. Ribbon Cable Fragility: The stepper motor ribbon cable is incredibly thin. If it is creased or pinched during reassembly, the ND filters will fail to move, and you will have to tear the camera down all over again.

  4. Static/Fingerprints: Never touch the glass filters with your bare hands. The oils from your skin can "cook" onto the glass due to the heat of the sensor, creating permanent stains.

Expert Advice: If your ND filters are simply "stuck," try a firmware update or factory reset first. Sometimes the motor calibration gets lost in the software. If the filters move during the "startup dance" when you turn the camera on, the motor is likely fine and the issue might be software-related!

Are you seeing a specific error message on the screen, or is the filter physically stuck halfway across the sensor?

Beta, Alpha, Omega oh my!
Format: Kindle
Omegas are precious and given to Alphas & their packs... but the Betas want in too. To this end, the Beta government is rolling out its trial of assigning a Beta to each Alpha-Omega pack. But forcing a Beta into a pack where they are not wanted will not end well... Of course, no one expected the Omega to fall for the assigned Beta. Great read and cliffhanger

A familiar story, just with…..less.
Format: Kindle
So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.

Good start to a series
Format: Kindle
I delayed reading the series for reasons I don’t remember. But my TBR list is huge so I thought I’d take a shot of this and I was pleasantly surprised. I didn’t think the blurb about it was anything special. But it was a very good book. It took some interesting twists and turns. I am so glad the second book is already out. Because I would not have waited patiently. Very slow burn but good storyline. 🔥🔥/5

A good read
Format: Kindle
Multiple points of view. 3 Alpha men and an Omega male. She is a Beta in training for a new program placing betas in Alpha/Omega packs. Mila is only doing the program for the money to take care of her dad. She wasn't expecting to fall for a pack but when she sees this packs Omega she is done for. There is just something about him. His Alphas are good looking as well. Too bad she is hiding a secret and their government is acting shady. I liked it and can't wait to see where their story goes.

Slightly repetitive but I did love some things
Format: Kindle
I love this type of story. And omegaverse is one of my all time favorite genres. But there are a few things that pulled me out of my enjoyment while I was reading. It was repetitive at times as well as struggled with telling not showing. So we didn’t always feel like we were experiencing things with the main character. There were also some plot holes but they may still be answered in part 2. Now this isn’t to be said I didn’t enjoy parts of the story. I loved the almost instant love between Mila and Oliver. And how he started changing around her.
