Howard Zinn's Southern Diary: Sit-Ins, Civil Rights, and Black Women's Student ActivismIn the 1960s, students of Spelman College, a black liberal arts college for women, were drawn into historic civil rights protests occurring across Atlanta, leading to the arrest of some for participating in sit ins in the local community. In the 1960s, students of Spelman College, a black liberal arts college for women, were drawn into historic civil rights protests occurring across Atlanta, leading to the arrest of some for participating in sit-ins in the local community. A young Howard Zinn (future author of the worldwide best seller A People's History of the United States) was a professor of history at Spelman during this era and served as an adviser to the Atlanta sit-in movement and the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC). Zinn mentored many of Spelman's students fighting for civil rights at the time, including Alice Walker and Marian Wright Edelman.

As a key facilitator of the Spelman student movement, Zinn supported students who challenged and criticized the campus's paternalistic social restrictions, even when this led to conflicts with the Spelman administration. Zinn's involvement with the Atlanta student movement and his closeness to Spelman's leading student and faculty activists gave him an insider's view of that movement and of the political and intellectual world of Spelman, Atlanta University, and the SNCC.

Robert Cohen presents a thorough historical overview as well as an entr e to Zinn's diary. One of the most extensive records of the political climate on a historically black college in 1960s America, Zinn's diary offers an in-depth view. It is a fascinating historical document of the free speech, academic freedom, and student rights battles that rocked Spelman and led to Zinn's dismissal from the college in 1963 for supporting the student movement.

Amazing product
I have just purchased my 7th jar! I absolutely love this product...and its American made! It leaves my skin soft, radiant and glowing! I didn't tell anyone about using it and people started asking me what I was doing differently. I get complements about my youthful glow! This company makes an amazing product and I hope that it will always be available! I have friends and family members hooked on it now. My mom just dropped a stocking stuffer hint to me tonight for another jar!

Legit balm. Not whipped. Made in USA.
Legit tallow balm. Not whipped. I love this stuff. It's the only thing that soothes, softens, and relieves my dry skin in the winter. Also made in USA, which is a priority for me.

Great winter moisturizer! Not greasy & absorbs well!
I needed a moisturizer that would last in colder weather. My skin is oily/normal and works well with my other facial products. I strictly use The Ordinary products and add this at the end to seal in the moisture. Pretty surprised how quickly this absorbed in to my skin. Has no scent and melts quickly on finger tips. I use it on my face and heels of my feet. Honestly love this addition to my fall/winter skincare routine. A little goes a long way! I have been using for a month now with great results. Definitely a great buy!

Great product if you can actually use it
Of the 4 orders I've placed for this lotion, only 2 have come perfectly. One of them came leaking tallow out of the container and package, and then it's replacement arrived with the jar completely shattered. The tallow itself is so hydrating and smells great, but if the company itself needs to fix it's packaging.

May need to transfer to a different jar since the lids break
I am very happy with the product but a little bothered by the packaging. The lid is cracked and doesn't stay on. The fragrance isn't what I expected, but it is pleasant and a comforting smell.
