Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date Ref. 15010 – Roman Elegance in 34mm Steel (1984)

The Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date Ref. 15010 is a quiet icon—compact, refined, and perfectly proportioned. Born in 1984, this reference brings together the enduring strength of the Oyster case with a vivid, classical dial configuration that sets it apart from the more utilitarian models of the period.

With its 34mm stainless steel case, white Roman dial, and the legendary Rolex Calibre 3035, this watch delivers vintage charm, everyday robustness, and subtle elegance in equal measure.

Timeless Case – Compact, Durable, Proportional

Housed in a classic 34mm stainless steel Oyster case, the watch retains Rolex’s legendary water-resistant DNA, featuring the familiar engine-turned bezel that gives the 15010 its distinctive edge. The steel surfaces remain crisp, with strong lugs and brushing that speak to careful ownership and restrained wear over its 40-year life.

This particular example is paired with a full-length Rolex Oyster bracelet—notably long at approximately 19cm, with no stretch, making it an ideal fit even for modern wrists while retaining full vintage character. The caseback and crown remain original and unpolished, enhancing both value and aesthetic integrity.

Classical Contrast – White Dial, Roman Numerals

The dial is where this piece truly shines. A perfect matte white surface plays host to black lacquered Roman numeral indices, delivering high contrast, vintage charm, and legibility in one timeless package.

The lume plots, delicately aged to a warm patina, sit beautifully at the edge of each marker, complemented by matching lume in the hour and minute hands. The combination evokes the classicism of Roman architecture with the modernity of 1980s Swiss watchmaking—a balance Rolex rarely revisits today.

Calibre 3035 – Rolex’s First High-Beat Date Movement

Inside beats the Rolex Calibre 3035, a pivotal movement in the brand’s evolution. It was Rolex’s first high-beat automatic calibre with a quickset date, replacing the earlier 1575 while significantly improving performance and usability.

This example has been recently serviced, ensuring smooth winding, accurate timekeeping, and reliable date transitions. The 3035 remains a collector’s favorite for its combination of durability, precision, and tactile quality—a true workhorse with soul.

Why This Watch?

For collectors seeking a Rolex that straddles vintage charisma and modern functionality, the Ref. 15010 offers a compelling proposition. The white Roman dial variant is particularly sought after, blending dressy aesthetics with sporty bones. It’s a piece that wears comfortably on all wrists, with enduring versatility.

Whether you’re stepping into vintage Rolex for the first time or expanding an established collection, this 1984 Oyster Perpetual Date is a refined, wearable classic—one that whispers rather than shouts, with subtle details that reward close attention.

Love This Set!
Color: Green
My daughter loves making matcha with this set. It as lasted for her matcha making sessions. The size is perfect to sit on top of the counter top. It's easy to clean, and leaves no after taste of any kind, nothing but great tasting matcha. The whisk makes to mix and get all the matcha powder so non sticks at the bottom or sides. It's a great buy!

Nice Matcha
Flavor Name: Ceremony Matcha-1.06oz
The flavor of this is very smooth and not bitter like some other matchas I’ve tried in the past. It’s very easy to incorporate into water and tastes amazing with soy milk and strawberry syrup. I’d say this is very fresh tasting and smelling. I did have consistent energy throughout the day with no crash which is a plus. Only warning is be very careful because the tin and product are very light I accidentally knocked it over the first day I had it and half the matcha fell onto the floor and was wasted. I’ve now learned to be very slow around it so I don’t drop it again.

REVIEW FROM A NON-BEGINNER HERE
Flavor Name: Ceremony Matcha-1.06oz, Flavor Name: Ceremony Matcha-1.06oz
I’ve been drinking matcha for years and I’m very particular with the quality and how I make it. I’ve tried many matchas, so I hope my review helps you. Would I buy again? - Yes. This matcha is great for someone who likes quality matcha without spending too much money. I would drink this as my daily matcha. - I can taste the difference between this matcha and a more expensive one, but I’d say this (price point aside) is about 90% in quality, taste, and experience if the expensive ones are 100%. Price: $12.59 after tax for 30g (bought on sale) Packaging: - Tin foil seal with pull tab, matcha loose in container, no bag inside of container - Comes with a rubber piece to keep matcha sealed after opening, very nice - Comes with a small metal spoon? - Top and bottom pieces separate from main container but don’t seem to have a function (see picture) Matcha: - In comparison to other high end matchas, this seems ever so slightly more coarse ground but doesn’t seem to have an effect on experience (no grainy feel) - the flavor has slightly less “matcha flavor” but for the price point, it exceeds my expectations, may just have to increase the ratio of matcha - Color: vibrant green, not dull oxidized color like some low end matchas - Mouth feel: Nice buttery and smooth - Caffeine: I am unfortunately not sensitive to caffeine so I can’t speak on the topic How I make my matcha lattes (so you can check my credentials or learn how to make as a beginner getting into matcha): 1. Heat water to 175°F/80°C, soak bamboo whisk for 5 minutes before using to soften the bristles 2. Two scoops of matcha (≈2g) with bamboo scoop (not provided with this product) into matcha bowl through a sieve (if you have one) 3. Slowly pour water into bowl, about 2oz/60ml 4. Use the whisk to gently swirl the matcha so that there is no dry powder left 5. Whisk vigorously in a “W” shape for 20 seconds (careful not to press the whisk into the bottom of bowl, it’s fragile) 6. Bring the whisk to the surface of the matcha and gently whisk in a “W” shape until the bubbles are broken up into smaller ones, aka “microfoam”, about 10 seconds 7. Finish up by swirling the matcha with the whisk in a gentle circle shape, leaving a small peak of foam in the middle as you pull the whisk from the surface. 8. (Optional) Combine with ice, milk (I use half and half, about 8oz), and sweetener to make a latte (add the sweetener after it’s in the glass so that you don’t expose sugar to the whisk) 9. Rinse matcha whisk and bowl with hot water, place whisk carefully back on holder, making sure not to snag any bristles For beginners: - Don’t use boiling water, it will burn the matcha and cause the flavor to suffer - BE SO GENTLE WITH THE WHISK PLEASE, and make sure you soak it before hand or it will be more prone to breakage - Get a whisk holder. The whisk will be prone to mold if stored upside down (bristles up) - When soaking the whisk, there should be a faint line about 1 cm down from the string binding, that’s where the water line should be. Don’t submerge the binding area or it will be more brittle and prone to mold. - A sieve is a worthwhile investment for a smooth matcha experience - All matchas naturally oxidize, so use within 1-3 months for a good experience, it’s not a feature of bad quality matcha, it’s just how all matcha is - Color matters. If it’s dull, that means it is old or bad quality, bright vibrant green is what you’re looking for - It’s normal for matcha to “settle” on the bottom of the glass after sitting for a while, just give it a swirl to remix it I wish you all luck on your matcha journey! If you’re a beginner, there’s a lot to learn, but it’s so worth it!
