This beautiful Necklace showcases a Vintage Turquoise and Sterling Silver Pendant, crafted by a Native American artist. The piece is not hallmarked, but the style and workmanship attest to its heritage. The artist employed both repousse and embossing techniques: repousse is a metalworking technique where the Sterling Silver is hammered from the reverse side to create a design, whereas embossing or stamping refers to when the piece is hammered on the front side, indenting the Sterling. The maker of this piece did both beautifully. At the center of the Pendant is an oval Turquoise stone, sky blue with golden brown matrix. The Pendant has been scalloped around the perimeter, adding additional design interest. A wonderful piece. We've paired the Turquoise and Sterling Pendant with 4 strands of Nevada Turquoise Nuggets and Olive Shell Heishi. The Nuggets are color matched to the Pendant stone and are polished to a glossy sheen. The Olive Shell Heishi is mixed brown and white, a combination that is refreshing and airy. The stones are highlighted by 4mm Sterling Silver Cubes and 6-by-8mm Sterling Silver Rondelles, which are stamped with the image of a starburst. These elements are complemented by 4mm Pyrite Nuggets and 3mm translucent gray Fire Polished Glass, both of which are faceted and add subtle sparkle. The Necklace is finished with Sterling Silver Rounds and Toggle Clasp and adorned with a Southwest Designs Sterling Charm. The piece weighs 80 grams and is 9-1/2 inches long plus the Pendant, which is 2-13/16 inches by 2-1/4 inches including a 1/16-inch Bail (when wearing, a vertical hang length of about 9 inches).
