The Mamiya 65mm f/4 L is a medium format rangefinder lens designed for the Mamiya 7 system, providing a field of view equivalent to approximately 28mm in 35mm format on 6×7 medium format. It uses a high-precision 6-element optical design in 5 groups, optimized for edge-to-edge sharpness and controlled aberrations across the full image circle. The lens integrates multi-coating technology to enhance contrast and color fidelity under varying light conditions.

Focusing is manual helicoid-driven, coupled with the Mamiya 7’s coupled rangefinder system for accurate distance alignment. The aperture range spans from f/4 to f/22, with a circular diaphragm for smooth rendering. Close focusing is supported down to approximately 1 meter, maintaining consistent optical performance. The compact mechanical construction is designed for balanced handling within the Mamiya 7 modular system, supporting the camera’s leaf shutter body integration for flash synchronization at all speeds.
