Nikolai Nikolaevich begins when its titular hero, a pickpocket by trade, is released from prison after World War II and finds a job in a Moscow biological laboratory. Starting out as a kind of janitor, he is soon recruited to provide sperm for strange experiments intended to create life in the Andromeda galaxy. The hero finds himself at the center of the 1948 purge of biological science in the Soviet Union, in a transgressive tale that joins science fiction (and science fact) with gulag slang and a love story. The protagonist and narrator of Camouflage is an alcoholic who claims that he and his gang of friends are just one part of a vast camouflaging operation organized by the Party to hide the Soviet Union's underground military-industrial complex from the CIA's spy satellites. As they pass their time on the streets and share their alcohol-inspired fantasies, they see the stark reality of the Cold War in Russia in the late seventies. Good design and size.
I was surprised at the quality. of this dish set. The cups were well balanced and delightful to use. The bowls are of good shape and just the right size for a bowl of cereal or soup.

Minimalist, imperfect but certainly reasonably good for the price
This is a set of 16 pieces, all of which are usable and practically sized, including the coffee/tea/beverage cups. While this is absolutely not high quality it is more than expected for $30 or so. The dishes are on the heavier side, not very lightweight brittle. I doubt they are break resistant. While they appear bone white, which they are, I'm not sure they are pure white (almost.) Some dishes will feature some small imperfections, like a small dot here and there, nothing too terrible. Stacking them is where you'll notice that the large plates are absolutely not perfect and you'll see that the ends are not perfect by rotating the plates and you'll notice areas they go slightly up and down. Again, nothing really noticeable or terrible unless you stack them.
If you've got a dorm room, don't care too much about having anything more than a minimalist set of reasonable quality dishes that you won't get embarrassed about for serving casual meals, this makes for a decent set. Hopefully they are safe (supposedly Amazon says they are) and they are made in China.
If you're wondering about branding, on the bottom of each item there is a conspicuous amazon basics logo.

Nice everyday dishes for the price.
Nice everyday dishes for the price. The plates and bowls are generous sizes. The coffee mugs are a bit small if that is a concern. The dishes are sturdy and should hold up well for everyday use.
