The Italian duo take 2016 by storm with a sensual, sumptuous and highly accomplished record, firmly anchored in the traditions of Brazilian bossa nova, samba and jazz. Nicola first achieved international acclaim for his signature style of samba-influenced acid-jazz, which also drew inspiration from '60s and '70s Italian film soundtracks. Alongside his production work Nicola, he has laid out his musical vision through his guitar playing and songwriting, with numerous studio albums including 2004's Other Directions, released on Schema, a French subsidiary of Blue Note Records. His compilation series Viagem, all five volumes of which have been released on Far Out Recordings, provide an insight into the sounds of the past that have inspired his music of today - a peerless collection of lost bossa and samba jazz from the swinging Brazilian '60s. On this new collaborative release, Conte's forward thinking production cleverly complements and contrasts with the warmth of Dipierro's laid back inflection and gloriously rich timbres. Natural is aptly named, considering the ease with which Stefania and Nicola have re-assumed the roles of muse to one another, a musical relationship providing the deepest access to the poetry within their sound. The album's title track and first single is a perfect introduction to their world, a masterful blend of global influences in which a propulsive Afro-rhythm bolstered by a searing funk guitar, whilst soothing Rhodes chords provide a distinctly Brazilian warmth and Stefania's vocals offer up an enriching melody to soothe the heart and engage the mind. Alongside original compositions from Nicola and others, Natural also tantalizingly promises some inspired re-interpretations of classic Brazilian and jazz pieces: Trio Tenura's exemplary bossa groove "A Gira" and Steve Kuhn's beautiful "The Meaning Of Love" are among the tracks respectfully imbued with an updated resonance.

Chemistry/connection & spice were great, but there was so much potential for a better story!

The potential of this story was high and the chemistry and connection between the characters was well done, but the "climax" was anti-climatic unfortunately. The author could have done so much more with a story about a stalker and fame. The spicy scenes were very well written/very hot, but I wish we had a more exciting ending with higher stakes and a bigger reward for the high stakes. I had to dock 1 star for that.

hot and heavy

Although the smart is limited, it is very heavy and extremely well detailed. I loved how the love story blossom and we got to see every aspect, it seems any other book. I’ve read lately. The love story doesn’t get quite an enough detail put in. All in all it was a really nice book to read. A break from the depressing historical fiction. I’ve been reading lately.

Great Story.

I thought this book was very entertaining. I found it interesting that the main character, Natalie Keane famous actress had so much trauma since she was a child that continued to build when she was kidnapped that kept her secluded. I liked the other main character, Taylor Vaughn, a bodyguard who also supported her parents who's is so sweet of her. Taylor had physical issues that helped her relate in some way with Natalie. Though their relationship was fake at the beginning as time went on it became more real which both realized they were in love. I liked that the author gave detail descriptions of the main characters. Though I wished it was more in the beginning chapters and not throughout the story. I did like the ending and epilogue. I was a little disappointed there wasn't more. I truly enjoyed reading this. I would recommend this book to everyone that loves a good romance.

Excellent bodyguard story!

Anytime Rachel Lacey releases a new book, I drop whatever I'm doing to read it, because I know it'll be a banger. And Cover Story definitely didn't disappoint! Natalie, an A-list actress, is struggling to live without fear after a horrible stalker experience 8 years ago that she can never seen to get past. With news that the man is getting out on parole soon, Natalie hires Taylor, a bodyguard who is also going to pose as her girlfriend.
I really loved this story. Both Natalie and Taylor have struggles and fears, and the author did such a tremendous job of making them into full-fledged characters that felt very authentic. Their dynamic as actress and bodyguard, both trying not to fall in love (and failing) was really fun to read. Their chemistry was off the charts hot, as were their spicy scenes!
The secondary characters and the Hollywood setting made the story and their lives feel very real, too. I'm going to have to go back and reread Stars Collide now!
