This cactus typically has three to five stems that branch at the base and grow upright for a few feet before drooping. It produces striking red flowers that are highly ornamental and bloom for a few days before transforming into fruits which have a short lifespan. In addition to thriving in its native environment, the Monkey Tail Cactus also makes an excellent house plant, particularly when grown as a hanging plant due to its distinctive drooping stems.
