A stunning example of a highly pyritised multi-ammonite fossil containing the species Crucilobiceras densinodulum from the world famous Jurassic Coast beach of Charmouth, Dorset UK.

The fossil measures 28 mm (1.12 inches) across with matrix, making it a small fossil packed full of detail. The pyrite matrix contains lots of tiny ammonite shells which all accumulated together on the seafloor in the Early Jurassic. Some of the shells are just a few millimetres across, making them truly tiny. The ammonites are very well preserved with great detail and the whole piece has a wonderful pyritic colour and shine. These beautiful fossils are getting much harder to find and each one is totally unique.

These multi-ammonite assemblages (or 'death beds') occur when lots of shells came together on the seafloor before being fossilised together, often collecting around an obstacle in the mud like a piece of wood or larger shell. They are a beautiful snapshot of life (and death) on the seafloor almost 200 million years ago.

Around 196 million years old, this fossil would make a wonderful addition to any collection.

I love this shelf! It took two people to hang it and you definitely want to ensure you hit a stud on at least one side or 1-2 screws if mounting between studs. It is heavy but a single person can lift it, just not maneuver easily due to its dimensions. It has a ton of room and fits mini helmets nicely in my office. Where I mounted it made it difficult to an extent to install but if you are even somewhat handy, you’ll be fine. You absolutely need a stud finder to hang this shelf. Sorry, I’m married! I would buy this shelf, or versions of it, again. Very practical and useful to display autographs, housewares or decor. Last note: do not over tighten the poles. The wood is soft and the poles are light weight. They are not traditional black pipe and weigh far less.
