The Philadelphia Athletics dominated the first fourteen years of the American League, winning six pennants through 1914 under the leadership of their founder and manager, Connie Mack. But beginning in 1915, where volume 2 in Norman L. Macht's biography picks up the story, Mack's teams fell from pennant winners to last place and, in an unprecedented reversal of fortunes, stayed there for seven years. World War I robbed baseball of young players, and Mack's rebuilding efforts using green youngsters of limited ability made his teams the objects of public ridicule. At the age of fifty-nine and in the face of widespread skepticism and seemingly insurmountable odds, Connie Mack reasserted his genius, remade the A's, and rose again to the top, even surpassing his earlier success. Baseball biographer and historian Macht recreates what may be the most remarkable chapter in this larger-than-life story. He shows us the man and his time and the game of baseball in all its nitty-gritty glory of the 1920s, and how Connie Mack built the 1929-1931 champions of Foxx, Simmons, Cochrane, Grove, Earnshaw, Miller, Haas, Bishop, Dykes--a team many consider baseball's greatest ever.

Great Shirts…I’ve Bought most Colors.
Color: White-red, Size: Large
I’ve bought a dozen of these shirts in different colors in the last 10-12 months. Very nice material and launders and/or dry cleans great. Outstanding price for a nice looking shirt!

This shirt brings mens dress shirts to a new level. My husband wears it with slacks or jeans.
Color: Army Green, Size: X-Large
Kudos to whoever designed and manufactured this shirt! It is stylish with interesting details. It can be gently washed in your washing machine and dried on a warm setting. The fabric is next level, feels like cotton with a tech stiffness to it. It has a dull sheen. I'd say "give it a shot". I ordered one and it was sooo handsome that I got my husband some other colors. Bonus.....The cut is generous enough to make a bit of a paunch disappear.

Well-made shirt.
Color: Light Grey, Size: Small
Material doesn’t feel light or flimsy. Very soft and fits well. Not too loose or too tight. Plan to purchase another one down the road.

Fit and color are spot on
Love the shirt and the material is great! It washes and iron well. The fit was perfect on my husband and he really liked it as well. We will definitely be ordering more colors. We got the blue color and it is just as pictured. Love the strip also it really adds to the look.

Shirt Without Buttons
Color: Navy Blue, Size: 3X-Large
I bought about seven of these shirts. They are soft and very comfortable to wear. However, it appears to be a major quality control issue with these shirts, regardless of the color. The buttons keep falling off the shirt on their own. Even when I wash them in the washing machine, on delicate. And the most frustrating thing about the whole ordeal, I have no extra buttons to replace those that fell off. I have shirts that I have had for years, and the buttons are still on the shirts. What's more, they each have extra buttons, one small and one regular size. I guess since the shirt is made in China, they make money by using low quality thread and not putting any replacement buttons. You be the judge, to buy or not to buy, if you can deal with the buttons coming off and nothing to replace them with. The choice is yours.
