Libec High-Mobility 75mm Dual-Base Fluid Head Package (TH-Z H / TH-V H)

For independent filmmakers, corporate videographers, event documentarians, and remote news gatherers (ENG), modern camera rigs demand extreme hardware agility. Production schedules often require a rapid transition from a traditional tripod to a linear slider, a compact skater dolly, or an overhead jib arm.

Libec addresses this mid-capacity challenge with their specialized 75mm Dual-Base Fluid Video Heads—most notably exemplified by the TH-Z H and the advanced continuous-drag TH-V H. Engineered with a robust, industry-standard 5kg (11.0 lbs) maximum payload threshold, these Japanese-engineered fluid heads feature a hybrid structural base and an ergonomic pan handle configuration, providing fluid-damped camera movements across both studio floor and field platforms.

1. Universal Dual-Base Platform Engineering

The standout feature of this 5kg payload system is its unique, cross-platform hybrid bottom base structure.

  • 75mm Half-Ball Profile: Natively drops straight into standard 75mm bowl video tripod legs for near-instant physical horizontal leveling on uneven, outdoor location terrain.

  • Threaded Flat-Base Integration: The underside of the half-ball shell features an integrated flat profile with standard 3/8"-16 female mounting threads. By simply removing the lower tie-down bowl clamp, the operator can mount the fluid head directly onto flat-base photo tripods, monopods, heavy-duty linear camera sliders, or skater dollies—eliminating the need to pack separate dedicated heads for different grip setups.

2. Smooth Fluid Drag Performance & Pan Control

To achieve professional broadcast framing, these heads utilize specialized multi-layered internal structures that completely absorb raw physical feedback.

  • Jitter-Free Starts & Stops: High-grade internal silicone grease isolates physical panning inputs, eliminating microscopic "stick-slip" friction or abrupt bouncing when starting or stopping a pan or tilt tracking sweep.

  • Full Tilt Flexibility: Operates with a wide physical vertical tilt clearance angle of +90° to -80°, making it easy to capture steep down-angles or dramatic overhead framing.

  • Dual-Sided Handle Rosettes: The main head casting features premium serrated rosettes on both the left and right sides. It comes standard with a high-traction PH-6B padded pan handle. Left-handed operators can swap sides effortlessly, or studio operators can purchase a second handle for a two-handed control setup.

3. Safe Sideload Sliding Quick-Release Mechanism

When balancing top-heavy mirrorless camera cages, handheld camcorders, or cinema rigs with varying focal blocks, achieving proper center-of-gravity balance is critical.

  • One-Touch Drop Insertion: Moving away from slow, rear-sliding tracking grooves, these heads feature a modern sideload snap-on/off locking assembly. You can drop your camera package straight down into the head from above, where it snaps securely into place automatically.

  • Active Balance Adjustment: The plate features a sliding calibration range of +/- 30mm (+/- 1.2") to easily slide front-heavy or rear-heavy camera setups until they hit a balanced sweet spot.

  • Industry Cross-Compatibility: The sliding camera plate is fully cross-compatible with select industry-standard Manfrotto and Sachtler heads, allowing operators to swap camera rigs seamlessly between different support setups on busy sets.

4. Tactical Field Construction

  • Ultra-Lightweight Travel Profile: Weighing a mere 1.1 kg (2.4 lbs) including its internal components and standard bowl clamp, it minimizes your travel kit's weight without compromising physical rigidity.

  • LED Illuminated Spirit Bubble Level: Features a high-visibility spirit bubble level, allowing for effortless leveling in dark control rooms, dimly lit theaters, or nighttime location shoots.

  • All-Weather Resilience: Designed to handle severe location shoots, the internal mechanical assemblies maintain consistent fluid panning resistance across a wide temperature threshold ranging from -20°C to +60°C (-4s°F to +140°F).

Key Technical Specifications:

  • Model Configuration Reference: Libec TH-Z H / TH-V H (Standalone Head Assemblies)

Ancient Greece: the progenitor for modern day civilization
Format: Kindle
This enthralling text explores Ancient Greece from its Bronze age origins to its capitulation under the Roman Empire. Furthermore, it emphasizes the long-reaching impact this heterogeneous collection of city-states had on political, scientific, mathematical, philosophical, architectural, and military development. All of this was accomplished in spite of constantly shifting intra-regional conflict between Athens, Thrace and Sparta. Outside enemies like the Persian empire only complicated relations further. This sibling rivalry-of-sorts evolved when Alexander the Great's Macedonian empire conquered the Greek world and supplanted itself in the greco-persian conflict. While Macedonia's did embroil the internecine conflicts in the area they hellenized the regions they conquered, including: Persia,Egypt, and parts of India. However, when Alexander the Great died it left a power vacuum exploited by his men, the Romans, and the Ancient Greeks. This ultimately resulted in the Roman Empire. Ancient Greece set the stage for roman empire and while they were an autonomous union of city-states for much of their existence two things united them: their language and religion. These two cultural touchstones united these city-states as brothers, albeit with a love-hate relationship at times. This text explores the archaic, classic, and hellenic periods of Greek history in a fascinating and concise manner. It is a must-read.

Enlightening
Format: Paperback
I discovered a number of interesting things reading this book. I learned for example, that Sparta was indeed a warrior city, with men training to be soldiers from an early age and living in barracks, even when they were married. This and the death rate from fighting led to a low birth rate and their eventual demise. I also discovered that athletes in the original Olympics did indeed compete naked and that making a false start to a race was not a good idea, as people who did that were executed! I also learned that there were Greeks who believed the Earth was round and that it circled the sun, hundreds of years before Copernicus. I also discovered that the various Greek factions, (e.g. Athens, Sparta, Macedonia etc.) seemed to be constantly fighting one another). I knew that Alexander the Great built a massive empire but did not realize the extent of that empire until I read this tome. I also discovered that Aristotle was a student of Plato, who in turn was a student of Socrates Overall, it was a very enlightening read where I gathered all sorts of interesting facts
