A product of the Great Depression, Tallman (Tolly) Oskar knows the North well, having retired from a long career as a Canadian cattle rancher. He lives with his wife, Gertrude, in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, and is the patriarch of a family of no less than sixty-two souls. He is an avid golfer.
