In the early 1990s, the International Center for Instrumental Research in Venice, directed by Claudio Ambrosini, promoted a vast project aimed at fostering the exchange and integration of instrumental knowledge between different musical fields. This initiative was significantly titled "Ouverture" (Overture), alluding to the desire for greater openness and communication between distant worlds and traditions, from ethnic music to jazz to progressive, and so on.
