Care

General Maintenance: If your bamboo has outgrown its container, carefully transfer to a new one. Carefully wash any pebbles you have in the container and repot by placing the bamboo in the new container, carefully covering the roots in the pebbles and putting in new water (high enough to cover the roots, but not submerging the stalks).

Temperature: 18°C to 32°C.

Light: Lucky bamboo prefer bright, filtered sunlight. Avoid direct sunlight as it will scorch the leaves. They are more tolerant of too little light than too much. If the plant begins to stretch, or their green colour fades provide more light.

Watering: Bamboo is very sensitive to chlorine and other chemicals commonly found in tap water. Water with distilled or bottled water or let your tap water sit out for a minimum of 24 hours to allow the chlorine to evaporate. If grown in water, change the water weekly to avoid disease.

Soil: Well-drained, rich potting soil. Kept moist but not soaking. It can thrive well when housed in pebbles or simply a vase filled with water so long as it has at least an inch of standing water at all times.

Fertilizer: A single drop of liquid fertilizer each month is plenty for most lucky bamboo arrangements. Plants grown in water only need to be fed every other month or so, using a very weak fertilizer.

Great for semi-experienced looking to build on knowledge.
Format: Paperback
Fantastic instructional manual if you already have some basic knowledge of anchors, ropework and climbing technique. It is written as an instructional manual for climbers looking to turn into guides so if you're brand new this probably isn't the best option for you.

Clear, straight forward, and authoritative
Format: Paperback
Excellent, straightforward information about how to stay safe at the crag. Every guy who's put his hand on a rock has an opinion about how to set anchors, belay, etc -- this book gives you the answers on how to do things the right way. Spend the 10 or 15 bucks and read the book. It might save your life.
