Plant life in Big Bend National Park is incredibly diverse. The wide range of habitats within the park--desert, foothills, mountains and moist woodlands, river canyons and floodplain--as well as the Big Bend's three major blooming seasons of spring, summer, and fall--guarantee a stunning show of botanical variety throughout the year. Little Big Bend is not a traditional guide to the area's common plants. Although it features many species that are characteristic of the Chihuahuan Desert environment, species such as orchids are also included precisely because they are uncommon or rare and therefore a special thrill to find. Plants not seen in other wildflower guides, or those with a limited geographic range that the reader will less likely encounter elsewhere, are pictured here. This guide describes 109 species found in the United States only in Trans-Pecos Texas; 62 of these occur only in the Big Bend portion of the Trans-Pecos, and 24 of them only within Big Bend National Park. Of the 252 featured species, 71 are considered "sensitive plants"; in Texas, 28 are classified as critically imperiled, 18 as imperiled, and 25 as vulnerable. The emphasis of this book is on the little in the Big Bend, the overlooked small plants or inconspicuous tiny flowers of larger plants that so often go unnoticed. In a landscape so immense, these plants may be right before our eyes but seldom seen, or they may be tucked away and quite difficult to find. Here, in glowing photographs and insightful text, Roy Morey has brought them to light.Binding Type: Paperback

The BEST water bottle on the market!
Color: Denim, Size: 32 Ounces
I am in love with this water bottle! I take it everywhere with me, and I love that it has a built-in straw. The color is perfect as well. It motivates me to get my water intake in, and it helps me meet my fitness goals. It is easily washed in the dishwasher, and I don't have to worry about it breaking. It keeps the temperature of my water perfect- whether I add ice or not. It is sturdy but not too heavy.

Excellent Summer Resource for Kids!
Format: Paperback
I purchased the "Summer Bridge Activities 2nd to 3rd Grade Workbook" for my 8-year-old, and it has exceeded my expectations in every way. This comprehensive workbook is a fantastic tool to keep children engaged and learning during the summer break. My sibling is an elementary school teacher and introduced me to these books when my son was in Kindergarten and I honestly have not looked back. My LO loved a good challenge so we typically do multiple days to ensure we finish it in its entirety during the summer. I'm constantly recommending these books every summer as I have not yet found anything to replace it.
Content Quality:
The workbook covers all essential subjects: math, reading comprehension, writing, science, social studies, and even fitness. Each section is well-organized and filled with age-appropriate activities that challenge and entertain. The variety of exercises ensures that my child doesn't get bored, and the progressive difficulty helps build confidence.
Educational Value:
The math and reading comprehension sections are particularly strong, with clear explanations and plenty of practice problems. The writing prompts encourage creativity and critical thinking, while the science and social studies sections introduce interesting facts and concepts. I appreciate the inclusion of fitness activities, promoting a healthy lifestyle alongside academic learning.
Flash Cards:
The included flash cards are a wonderful bonus. They are durable, colorful, and perfect for quick review sessions. My child enjoys using them, and they make reinforcing concepts fun and interactive.
Ease of Use:
The workbook is user-friendly with clear instructions for both parents and kids. It's designed to be self-paced, which means my child can work independently or with minimal guidance. The answer key at the back is helpful for quick checks.
Engagement:
What sets this workbook apart is its ability to make learning enjoyable. The activities are engaging, and the themes are relevant and interesting. My child looks forward to workbook time each day, which is a huge win for any parent trying to prevent the summer slide.
Overall, the "Summer Bridge Activities 2nd to 3rd Grade Workbook" is an excellent investment in your child's education. It's thorough, fun, and well-designed to keep young minds sharp over the summer. I highly recommend it to any parent looking to provide a balanced and enriching educational experience during the school break.

Good quality for price
Format: Paperback
This was a good book for the summer. It has a variety of activities so my child didn't get bored. It also has some fun "outside" only ideas to get them up and moving. It was a good bridge book that she could (mostly) do independently. However, as they progress through it, parents should be there to help and reiterate different concepts. It was well worth the price and helped the transition go smoothly.

Perfect To Keep A Youngster's Mind Active Over The Summer
Format: Paperback
Simply put, this is a great activity book to help your child stay mentally active when out of school for the summer. It is not intended to be a full school curriculum, but instead a way to keep children mentally active during the summer break. We have a child leaving 2nd and heading to 3rd grade and were concerned about her skills being lost over the summer. While we do work with her to increase her skillset, we were more concerned about the atrophy that happens when not in school than jumping her ahead. It can be a bit tough for kids returning to school if they go 2-3 months with little book work, so we wanted to help keep her fresh but not fill her summer with full days of 'school' work.
This book is a solid mix of skills with some being easy and others more of stretch. The easy and stretch items will vary with the schooling your child gets and their abilities. I suspect most kids heading to third grade will find most of the work in this book at least a strong refresher and potentially help move them in some areas. This is setup to be a roughly 15 minute daily regime but we have enhanced it with some other work. We have math and science specific activity books as well as a reading workbook that we rotate into the mix. We also keep track of words she has a harder time spelling and use them make a 10 spelling word weekly review and test (review for 4 days and test on the fifth). Most of these topics are in the bridge activities book, but we felt a little extra attention would not hurt and some variety in what she is working on keeps things fresh. We do spelling, reading/writing and a couple 'pages' of work each weekday which comes out to about a 45-60 minute batch of work. The Summer Bridge Activities books is a constant in the mix with a page used almost every day and the other work rotated.

Great summer workbook!
Format: Paperback
So far an easy book compared to the Argo Summer Academy one that was too challenging. I don't like the way the pages are perforated they fall out of the book too easily. I feel like it is a good balance of keeping up skills already learned and softly introducing a little bit of challenge. I like how each day has math and reading. Easy to keep skills up with only 15 minutes of work a day.
