Rush-inspired 'Fly By Night' Art Print'Fly By Night' was fun, since there are a great many of retro vintage magazine ads for air travel in the 50s and 60s, and many of them are terribly cringey for sexism and privilege. I worked for a while on a visual that showed a family asleep on a plane, but then found this far superior image of the Captain hovering over a mum and her child, and it supports a reading of the story being about somebody buggering off on their parental responsibilities

I worked for a while on a visual that showed a family asleep on a plane, but then found this far superior image of the Captain hovering over a mum and her child, and it supports a reading of the story being about somebody buggering off on their parental responsibilities - seeya, I'm outa here - even though Peart wrote the lyrics at 17 as he went off to England for the first time. Nonetheless! I'm never one to walk about from a potentially disturbing interpretation of a song, and to destabilize any halcyon 50s atomic family imagery - so here you have it.
