As the ISO VG 68 grade in the DTE 10 Excel Series, this is the correct zinc-free specification for high-load, high-temperature hydraulic systems in South African open pit mining where summer ambient temperatures regularly exceed 35°C — and for any ISO 68 application where the OEM specifically requires ashless or zinc-free hydraulic fluid. It combines the zinc-free chemistry with a viscosity index of 152+ — substantially higher than the 104 VI of the zinc-based Mobil DTE 26 Ultra at the same ISO VG 68 grade.

Mobil DTE 10 Excel 68 is a premium zinc-free, ashless anti-wear hydraulic oil engineered for high-load, high-temperature hydraulic systems requiring ISO VG 68 lubrication. It combines a very high viscosity index (VI 152+) with an advanced ashless additive system — delivering greater film thickness at elevated operating temperatures, outstanding system cleanliness and full compatibility with sensitive hydraulic system components — all without the risks associated with zinc-based anti-wear chemistry.
ISO VG 68 is the recommended grade for surface mining operations in the Northern Cape where summer ambient temperatures regularly exceed 35°C — the higher viscosity compensating for thermal thinning at elevated operating temperatures to maintain adequate pump and valve protection throughout the working shift. With a VI of 152+ — compared to 104 for the zinc-based Mobil DTE 26 Ultra at the same ISO 68 grade — Mobil DTE 10 Excel 68 also maintains significantly more stable viscosity from cold start through peak operating temperature, providing cold-start protection that lower-VI ISO 68 oils cannot match.
