Berlin based, Jerusalem pioneer Roi Assayag, aka Tropikal Camel, serves up his fantastic new album, Awakening Spirits on Brussels based label Rebel Up Records, distilling 20 years of musical experience. The album title Awakening Spirits is a wordplay: in Hebrew & Arabic, winds, spirits, and ghosts are the same word: Ruaah. This title is polysemic: spirits are representing the mystic research that is eternal, winds are representing drama and conflict, ghosts are the voices from the past... The word awakening symbolizes the future. Makom in Hebrew, Maqam in Arabic, which means "place" but is also the name of the melodic system of Arabic music, theory which Roi Assayag has taught himself from YouTube tutorials, trying to deepen his connection with the melodies that opened his soul. In those quarter tones he found the drama that he is so connected to. One that is making him feel home. As Tropikal Camel he casts a spell over audiences from Europe to Africa through the Middle East by blending percussion with a psychedelic edge at places like Nuits Sonores and Nyege Nyege. It is a sound that draws on his Middle Eastern and North African heritage and heads into the future. In the artist's unique way, he fuses elements into a special blend of driven bass, deep pads, and chopped chants for a musical journey that continues on this spellbinding new offering. Deeply moving opener "Deja Groove" immediately sinks you into an enchanting world of percussive flurries and weightless beats, a ballad of longing to a lost love, was written in dark times with a glimmer of hope. "The Spirits" is a sparse and intoxicating brew of churning drums and Syrian Sufi chanting, influenced by music of Aleppo in Syria. Sufi music has a mystic quality, opening the heart and cleansing the soul. This track is in Maqam Sabah, a modus that is representing youth and the process of maturity. "Waves" is a loose and languid mix of lurching grooves, traditional percussion and edgy synth drones that trap you in a trance. The pressure then builds again with the clattering drums and hits of "Zachotronic". The excellent "Beeehave" slips into darker, almost techno leaning territory. It's about being wild, not giving a fuck, in a club in Berlin, high! "Seashells" mixes all of the above into an electrifying trip through world sounds that brings plenty of new influences to the dancefloor.

Busted spring on one side....

I would have given it five stars except for the fact that 1) the instructions that come with it are miserable so you will definitely want to refer to the photos they have in the advertisement here, and 2) it appears that one of the vertical poles has a busted spring and I literally had to stuff some socks underneath it to make it hold. Definitely an eyesore, so I'm not thrilled about that.
With that being said, I'm in an apartment and I don't want to drill in the walls to hang a curtain rod. My sliding glass doors have a track that I was able to get brackets that fit over the track to hold a pole, but I had one window that I could not do that with. I thought this would be an interesting way to hang curtains without doing damage. I considered those sticky tape curtain rod holders, but I was reading a lot of bad reviews about them not holding or them taking the paint off upon removal. I figured this was the better option and it gave the room some nice aesthetics because my furniture is farmhouse white wood with black iron accents, so this blended really well with the aesthetics of the room. I know that most people who did reviews used this product as its advertised to be a room divider for privacy... So I figured this is a nice way to review using this product in a different way. I just really can't stand window blinds, as they look so commercial and industrial to me... I needed a way to make the space seem more homey.
While this is working fine for me, the reality is I have white lace curtains, which don't weigh much. I don't know that I could recommend this product, even though it says it can support a bit of weight, with curtains that are too heavy. Some of that, in part, is due to the fact that one of my springs is broken so it's not very stable as it is. However, even if I was not having the issue with the spring being busted on one side, I still don't think this would be good with heavy curtains (especially if you like opening your curtains frequently).
It did come with curtain hooks if you have the kind of curtains that allow you to use hooks to hang them. I do not. My curtains just slide onto the pole. If they were the type that could be put up with hooks then opening and closing them would probably be easier and maybe not as big of a deal as it is for me with the type of curtains I have.
I cannot comment on longevity as I just installed it today... If anything changes I will try to remember to come back and modify this review.

Best no-show socks ever!

If you're tired of wearing socks that slip off and show in your sneakers, then you need to try these amazing socks! They are designed to stay in place, even after being active all day. They are incredibly soft and comfortable, and they are truly no-show, so you won't see them at all. I've been using these socks for years and have never had any issues. The best

Great socks for the price!

I love these socks, they are perfect no shows but the material is thick enough for toes not too go thru. The grip is perfect and keeps the sock in place all day. I would definitely order true to size as the fit was perfect. I was surprised to find these socks at the price I did, especially when I got the socks in both black and white.
