The Intellinet 8-Port Gigabit Ethernet PoE+ Switch with 2 RJ45 Gigabit UpLink Ports is the compact, reliable backbone your small business, home office, or storefront network needs. Designed for robust performance and effortless deployment, this PoE+ switch delivers flexible power and data delivery for a growing range of devices, eliminating clutter and simplifying cabling. With eight PoE+ ports and two high-speed uplinks, you can seamlessly connect IP cameras, VoIP phones, wireless access points, and other network appliances without sacrificing speed or reliability. Whether you’re building a security system, deploying a new phone system, or extending Wi‑Fi coverage, this switch provides the power and performance you require in a clean, quiet, fanless design.

  • Power over Ethernet Plus (PoE+) on eight ports: Deliver power to compatible devices over a single Ethernet cable, reducing wiring complexity and eliminating the need for separate power adapters for each device. This is ideal for IP cameras, VoIP phones, wireless access points, and other PoE-enabled devices, enabling quicker installations and cleaner setups.
  • Two Gigabit uplink ports for scalable networking: Use the two RJ45 Gigabit uplinks to connect to your router, firewall, or core switch. This design provides flexible network topology options and ensures high‑speed connections to your main network while leaving room for future growth.
  • Plug-and-play, unmanaged operation: No complex configuration required. The switch auto-negotiates speed and duplex mode for each port and supports auto-MDIX, making it easy to drop into any network and start working immediately—perfect for busy environments where simplicity matters.
  • Reliable, silent performance in a compact metal enclosure: The sturdy housing is designed for desktop or rack mounting in small spaces. A fanless design means silent operation, enabling it to blend into offices, classrooms, or home offices without noise or distraction while delivering dependable performance.
  • Energy efficiency and enterprise readiness for small networks: Designed to optimize power usage and deliver consistent, low-latency switching. This switch helps you scale your network for current needs while preserving room to upgrade as your business or home network expands, all while maintaining security and reliability.

How to Install Intellinet 8-Port Gigabit PoE+ Switch

Step 1 — Plan your layout: Decide where you will place the switch for optimal cabling and airflow. Keep the unit in a ventilated area away from excessive heat and moisture. Position it near the devices you intend to power with PoE for the most efficient cabling.

Step 2 — Connect uplinks and devices: Connect the two Gigabit uplink ports to your router or core network switch using high-quality Cat5e/6 cables. Then connect PoE-enabled devices (IP cameras, phones, access points) to any of the eight PoE+ ports using standard Ethernet cables. The switch will automatically negotiate speed with each connected device.

Step 3 — Power up: Attach the external power supply to the switch and connect it to a reliable power source. Once powered, the port LEDs will indicate activity and PoE status as devices communicate and draw power.

Step 4 — Verify operation: Ensure each PoE device powers on and establishes a network link. Since this is an unmanaged switch, most users will experience immediate plug-and-play connectivity. If any device fails to power, verify cabling, PoE compatibility, and device power draw, ensuring total consumption stays within the switch’s PoE budget.

Step 5 — Maintenance and monitoring: Periodically inspect the switch for dust and warmth. The lightweight, fanless design should remain quiet, but keep vents unobstructed to maintain cooling. If you encounter connectivity issues, check that uplinks are connected properly and that devices are within supported PoE power ranges.

Frequently asked questions

  • What devices can I power with this PoE+ switch? You can power a variety of PoE-enabled devices such as IP cameras, VoIP phones, wireless access points, and other compatible devices that support IEEE 802.3af/at PoE+. Always verify the power draw of each device to ensure the total does not exceed the switch’s PoE budget.
  • Is this switch easy to install? Yes. It is designed as an unmanaged, plug-and-play solution. No software configuration is required. Simply connect the uplinks and PoE devices, power the unit, and you’re ready to go.
  • Does the switch require a separate management device? No. This model is unmanaged and operates without a management interface. It works out of the box for immediate network expansion and device powering.
  • How scalable is the solution? The two Gigabit uplinks provide solid connectivity to a router or core switch, enabling straightforward expansion as your network grows. If you need more ports or advanced features, you can cascade additional switches or upgrade to a managed solution later.
  • Is there a recommended PoE budget? The switch supports PoE+ with multiple ports, but the exact total PoE budget depends on the external power supply and the combined power draw of connected devices. Always account for peak draw and ensure your power supply and network design accommodate your devices’ needs.

Compact, loud, controls similar to Baofeng handheld, knobs aren't that great.
My first mobile rig, and currently the one I'm still using. I don't' use it too heavy, but I've had it for about 3 years and it's worked great. I've used it on many different applications Pros: Compact size, good display, small fan on the rear to help keep the unit cool. The controls are very similar to a Baofeng handheld radio so great for beginners who likely started out with that brand. Compatible with GMRS, FRS, other "out of band" frequencies (mine was from the box, I can't guarantee the same with a newer model though). Do this at your own "risk," you are an adult and can make your own choices :) Cons: Fan is a bit loud if that's something that bothers you during a long QSO. Repeater tail squelch is loud at times. But the biggest con by far is the knobs are garbage. They are rubber, and you will most certainly have one fall of at some point and loose it. I purchased some small guitar amp knobs and replaced the (now both lost) factory knobs. If the knobs were metal or fixed to the device I would give 5 stars.

junk
radio runs hot even when not transmitting. programming cable does not work with win 11. it does work with chirp once you find a 10 year old pc to program it. programming from the front panel seems impossible. knobs are made of rubber and keep falling off. i am sure i will find more once i use it for a while if it lasts. Update: I was able to trudge through the manual and make the changes i needed from the front panel, took a while with the darn buttons falling off. Manual is not good but with some patience you can work through it. If you need a tiny radio and your budget allows i would look at the anytone 778.

good radio for the money
THE GOOD.. These are very good radios for the money, we currently have 6 of these the oldest is probably 3 years old, we can mounter all local emergency services, easily get into all of our local ham 2 meter and 70 cm repeaters. It IS NOT part 95 compliant by the FCC which means it IS NOT LEGAL for GMRS use, but it can broadcast and receive on all FRS, MURS and GMRS frequency's, use at your own risk on these frequency's. One of these radio's are in a ranch jeep it is our oldest radio, this thing has lived in hot dusty environment, been soaked with water and mud and has held up great. Easy to program with CHIRP. THE BAD.. They claim the they are 25 watt VHF 20 watt UHF, The ones we have only put out 18-19 watts, which is plenty of power for most repeater operation. The data port and speaker port are side by side on the back if you have your radio mounted to were you cant see the rear and put the programing cable into the speaker port it WILL blow your speaker.
