Der Chau Gong ist ein sehr eleganter und unverwechselbarer Gong, der einen vollen und anhaltenden Klang musikalischer Obertöne erzeugt. Seine Schönheit und sein traditionelles Erscheinungsbild machen ihn zu einem Blickfang in jedem Raum, drinnen oder draußen. Der chinesische Chau Gong stammt aus der Han-Dynastie, wo er für spirituelles Trommeln, große Versammlungen und zur Ankündigung der Prozession wichtiger Persönlichkeiten verwendet wurde. In neuerer Zeit hat der Chau Gong seinen Platz in verschiedenen Musikgenres gefunden, vor allem in Symphonieorchestern.

Chau Gongs , auch als Tam-Tam bekannt, sind chinesische Gongs mit dem bekanntesten Aussehen. Die Form des Chau Gongs unterscheidet sich vom Wind Gong dadurch, dass er einen Rand um die Außenkante hat. Er hat auch ein sehr markantes „Zielscheiben“-Aussehen oder Bullauge. Es mag zwar verlockend sein, den Gong in der Mitte oder Bullauge anzuschlagen, aber das ist eigentlich der „Knoten“ des Gongs (der Punkt, an dem es keine Vibrationen gibt) und das Anschlagen des Knotens wird nicht empfohlen, da der Gong dadurch brechen könnte. Wir empfehlen, den Gong 2-3 Zoll von der Mitte entfernt anzuschlagen, je nach Größe des Gongs.

Der chinesische Chau Gong besteht aus einer Bronzelegierung, die zu etwa 80 % aus Kupfer und zu 20 % aus Zinn besteht. Der Herstellungsprozess besteht aus einer Mischung aus Hämmern von Hand und Drehen der Bronze, wobei das Metall vorsichtig erhitzt und abgekühlt wird. Beim Chau Gong sind der mittlere Punkt und der äußere Rand noch mit dem schwarzen Kupferoxid bedeckt, das sich bei der Herstellung des Gongs bildet. Beim Rest des Gongs wird diese Beschichtung durch Drehen entfernt und die Oberfläche poliert.

Chau Gongs sind in verschiedenen Größen erhältlich, wobei jede Größe ihren eigenen, unverwechselbaren vollen Klang hat. Kleinere Größen haben einen satten, aber höheren Klang, während die größeren Größen tiefer sind und mit mehr Kraft und Sustain klingen.

This was a slow moving book. Lots of character pov chapters, lots of superfluous descriptions and endless courtly appearances stalled this book to start. Once you get into the heart of the story, it takes off. Before you know it the book is done. My favorite character is Reyna. She is so strong. She is true to herself. She gets into a lot of trouble with her headstrong ways but it's entertaining. I have high hopes for Lorcan. He is honorable to a fault. Thane had turned out to be better than I thought but i still don't like him. Eislin is useless. Great plot twists at the end. I'm looking forward too book 2.

This was very, very good. The world is vast and characters are complex. There is a good plot with a whole lot going on. This is well written. Good twists and turns and some heart breaking moments. You will love these characters, they have heart and loyalty. I am hoping that there will be several more books. We've yet to see anything from the Sea Court but only a mention of them here and there. The Wood Court was given a quick couple of scenes, and only as far as some warriors, we've yet to enter their court and the Shadow Court, I'm not sure if they will be a force for good or bad, but they definitely will play a much bigger role moving forward. This is primarily the Ice and Air Courts. Told in multiple views, which I loved, it gives you a chance to see things from different eyes. There's alot of political maneuvering and deception. I loved it and will pick up the next book as it becomes available. If you like The Fae and the courts, you should love this. I think the author has mucn in store for us.
