East-Coast-Style Semimodular Analog Synthesizer
Analog synthesizer fans in search of an affordable 100% analog synthesizer will love the Cre8audio East Beast, an east-coast-style semimodular synthesizer with a big, fat-sounding voltage-controlled oscillator, a multimode filter, and several performance features. The instrument can be removed from its desktop enclosure and placed into a 40 HP Eurorack case.
Mighty Big Oscillator
- East Beast’s oscillator, designed in partnership with the too-serious-for-words people from Pittsburgh Modular Synthesizers, is a part of their 5th generation of analog oscillators stemming from a superserious 10 years of continued research into analog oscillator development.
- Its circuitry is not a clone or based on any outside designs. It is made with 100% modern components. This keeps it very stable, and giving it a super-rich, and unique sound.
- Oscillator waveforms—sine, triangle, saw, and square
PGH Filter
- Most of the filters you are used to hearing are transistor ladder filters, or copies of transistor ladder filters. This is not one of those. The whole goal in making this filter was to create a creamy smooth filter with no dead spots, a very common phenomenon in all filters, but check it out. No dead spots. From nasally to biting and elsewhere, it’s all one large sweet spot.
- East Beast’s filter is a multimode filter, meaning it can be used as a low-pass filter, high-pass filter, bandpass filter, or a combination of the three for an even wider sonic palate.
Envelope and LFO
To further sculpt the sounds, Cre8audio have included an envelope generator and LFO. The custom envelope circuit creates a snappy, percussive attack for expressive performance. The dual range LFO opens up a wide range of LFO and audio rate modulation possibilities.
Get Patched
Semimodular means that the East Beast will work without any patch cables or anything. But what fun is that? Who doesn't want to get wacky with their own personal spaghetti mess of cables sticking out of their synthesizer? At the very least, it makes you look sophisticated to anyone observing. In any case, East Beast has a whopping 18 Eurorack patchpoints betwixt you can patch and connect to your other gear.
MIDI
- The East Beast offers a fancy MIDI in and MIDI thru, so you can chain multiple MIDI monstrosities together.
- Enjoy plugging a MIDI controller into East Beast and rocking out and/or sequencing like mad? Again, no judgment.
Performance Features
East Beast includes quite a few additional performance features including a built-in tap-tempo clock, arpeggiator, and sequencer. There are a lot of opportunities to inject some randomness, too.

Runs small in the waist

These are good pants, but as other reviewers have noted, they tend to run small. Order one size up from the size you normally order. I'm a 34 inch waist, and I ordered the 34. They were tight, and I had to have them let out. I may order another pair, and if so, I'll order the 36.

Good value
Size: 40, Color: Black With Black Strip
My husband and brother in law both found these pants to fit a little smaller than regular dress pants.....mostly they were tighter in the thighs but the length/waist was perfect. They each ordered a size or two up and had the pants tailors to fit. They looked very sharp and were of a good quality considering they were not super expensive. I hope they have the chance to wear these more often!
