Our Cot and Cot Bed Mattresses pass the relevant safety and fire regulations:  BS 7177:2008 + A1:2011. They also conform to the European standard BS EN 16890:2017(8.2.3 and 8.5.2.2).

At Cottonsafe® we have been actively lobbying to ban the use of fire retardant chemicals in all infant and baby products. The use of flame retardant chemicals in cot mattresses is of particular concern as babies are very sensitive to the adverse health effects of these chemicals, some of which are carcinogens and developmental toxins.

In creating an exclusive Vegan Cot mattresses, our primary objective was to meet the product safety requirements and to ensure that it contains absolutely no fire-retardant chemicals, no animal products, no foam and no dangerous residues which can be inhaled or absorbed. Each of our Vegan Cot mattresses are handcrafted to order in Devon and (unlike other manufacturers) we do not use solvents or adhesives in the construction as these may contain formaldehyde.

Inside the Vegan Cot mattresses, we use a thick layer of core support polyester to ensure the correct density and support level required to meet the strict safety regulations.  The core support polyester allows maximum air flow to increase ventilation and reduce moisture build-up.

The outer cover of our Vegan Cot Mattresses uses our unique ‘Purity’ Polyester fabric. This is highly breathable so ideal for this purpose. This fabric has a very simple polymer, it is super-soft and hypoallergenic.

The cover is zipped in place and the zip puller removed to seal the cover in place and meet the safety regulations. The cover is an integral part of the cot and cot bed mattress and is not removable or washable. A waterproof cover is required (not supplied but a chemical free protector is available when placing your order).

Our Vegan Cot Mattresses are also eco-friendly and recyclable. All our Vegan Cot Mattresses meet the Stockholm Convention for recycling.

Instructions for use

IMPORTANT, RETAIN FOR FUTURE REFERENCE: PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

1. This cot mattress is manufactured by Cottonsafe® Natural Mattress. Registered name: So4Bed Ltd. Unit 15 Woodbury Business Park. Woodbury. Exeter. Devon.EX5 1AY.

2. This Cot Mattresses passes all the relevant safety and fire regulations: BS 7177:2008 + A1:2011

3. This mattress also conforms to the European Standard BS EN 16890:2017 (8.2.3 + 8.5.2.2).

4. This product is not suitable for cleaning or washing.

5.It must ALWAYS be used with a waterproof cot mattress protector.

6. COT SIZE: ONLY use a Cot mattress in a cot of internal width between 600mm and 610mm and an internal length of between 1200mm and 1210mm

WARNINGS: 

a. A baby who is being sick will need watching. This mattress may not soak up vomit.

b. Do not use more than one mattress in the Cot or Cot Bed.

c. Be aware of the risk of open fire and other sources of strong heat, such as electric bar fires, gas fires, etc in the near vicinity of the cot.

9. Do not use the product if any part is broken, torn or missing.

10. Cleaning instructions:

a. Turn the mattress and air regularly.

b. Covers may be lightly sponged clean

c. Do not machine wash

d. Do not use biological detergents

e. Do not tumble dry, iron or expose to heat

f. Do not immerse cot or cot bed mattress or fillings in water

g. Ensure the mattress is completely dry before use
